At two years old, Joe reached the perfect weight for his size.
Achieving and maintaining an appropriate weight is crucial for raccoons, as it impacts their overall health and well-being. He is very fit, reflecting his healthy development at this age. Notably, he stands out as a Big Boy.

Joe was born blind and had been kept in a small dog kennel by his previous owners.

When arriving here, we started him off in a small, controlled habitat designed to provide a safe space as he learned to navigate new surroundings. He adapted quickly by using his sense of touch and smell to find his way around and to begin building confidence in what seemed like freedom to him.

The limited environment allowed him to learn crucial skills, such as climbing and finding his food and water. Climbing high is instinctual, but climbing down was scary for him. He showed quick progress, especially when motivated by following the sound of my voice and the scent of a treat waiting at the end of his success, “Raccoons have a keen sense of smell.”

Soon after his arrival we introduced him to another loan raccoon, it was instant love💕
