Spark Your Heart

Spark Your Heart Nonprofit Organization I began with something small, like bringing this man lunches and snacks each week, but I knew that I wanted to do more. Stay tuned!

In 2011, I encountered a homeless man standing on the corner of a freeway exit selling roses, and I decided to make a difference in his life. One day, I chose to pull over to ask him about his story. This man selling roses is named Randy, and he was the spark in my life that I needed to realize that care and compassion for others can go a long way, and that I have capabilities far beyond what I ca

n imagine to make a difference in the lives of others on a much larger scale. Randy is my inspiration for Spark Your Heart, a 501c3 Nonprofit Organization dedicated to providing opportunities for giving, and inspiring others to engage in random acts of kindness through these opportunities. Are you looking for a way to give this weekend? Spark Your Heart has paired with Hopelink to set up food drive locations this month. Hopelink provides a variety of services to low-income families and individuals, including children, the elderly, and people with disabilities, in both the north and east King County. The agency also provides transportation services in King and Snohomish counties. The Hopelink approach - providing stability and equipping people with the skills to exit poverty – has helped move tens of thousands from vulnerability and crisis to independence.

From Wednesday, 12/20, through the end of the month of December, you can bring your donations to Re/Max Alliance in Sammamish, Washington at 22830 NE 8th Street, Sammamish, WA, 98074. Hopelink has provided us with a list of items that are needed the most. Of course, any food donations will be greatly accepted. Please see the list below for items needed at this time. All donations will be brought to the Redmond Hopelink location. If you have any questions, please feel free to directly message us!

The following is a list of items that Hopelink currently has a shortage of. Hopelink accepts a variety of items however, which include toys for the holidays, non-perishable food items, and toiletries. Hopelink is not currently accepting clothing donations at this location.
Items Needed:
Cooking oils
Cereal
Baking items (flour, sugar, etc.)
Condiments

Another random act of kindness, but everyone can help!
Okay my friends. It's time to act. I have been given some information regarding Tent City in Sammamish. 60% of the residents are employed but do not make enough money to live in an apartment. You do know how cold it is this week right? Alright. So HERE IS the LIST! Jillian is coming home from SPU and with Spark Your Heart.org, we're going to take this on. If you want to help, and be part of the giving spirit of this time of year, then great- you're a part of the action and the change! If you have a donation, I will pick it up- private message me and tell me where to get your donation!! If you want to drop it off independently, let us know so we don't duplicate efforts.
Tent City4 is now located at:

Tent City 4 Wish List

We are in dire need of Blanket Donations

We would also appreciate any individual or groups efforts to help launder blankets, small amounts at a time or large amounts if a group could help, at this time. Please contact us at camp to make arrangements; our number is (206) 618-3901.

If by any chance there are agencies with commercial washer and dryer available to wash blankets for our camp and/or temporary use be donated to Tent City 4, The Camp stands ready to work with folks, for there are capable people to use and maintain space of said equipment. Please contact us at [email protected] or forward contact information to interested parties.

We thank you in advance for your support of TC4

To donate items take them directly to the camp at any time. The camp security can take items 24/7. The pantry looks pretty empty. There are about 50 residents in camp that means about 120 cups, bowls and or plates a day. Each person must cook their own breakfast and lunch each day. Health Department does not allow the camp to prepare their own meals as a group. They have one refrigerator and a small freezer, a microwave (that needs replacing) two coffee pots and a toaster. Donations of food need to be in single serving sizes except those items listed below. Please remember if it can’t be just heated up in a microwave they probably can’t use it.

One hot meal is provided each night at 6pm by churches, businesses and organizations. The Tent City4 web site gives information on how to sign up to provide a meal.

About 60% of the residents work part or full time. They just don’t earn enough for an apartment, car, gas, medication, and food. They may work as temporary employees and will be leaving the camp as soon as they are hired on a permanent basis. Without a permanent job you can’t rent an apartment. Many work odd shifts and are not in camp for the hot meal.
