Happy Holidays! As 2021 comes to a close, we’d like to think about how coronavirus has impacted people throughout the country, especially children. It has both isolated us and brought us closer together. Now, we’d like to celebrate the ending of one year and the beginning of another by helping the people most impacted by coronavirus: affected children. Consider donating to our Year-Swap Children’s Toy Drive, to support children in hospital at this fragile time. All donations will be transferred to Seattle Children’s Hospital’s patients and their families.

What can you donate?
Seattle Children’s only accepts new, unused items, in accordance with their COVID policy. Their Amazon Wishlist is linked below, and is a useful resource for finding ideas for donations. Other donations are also acceptable as long as they angle towards children and their families. Seattle Children’s also accepts gift cards for locations including groceries, clothing or goods shoppes, amazon, gas, and VISA or Mastercard gift cards. If you have a gently used item to donate, you may drop it off, but it will go toward a different charity, while stil connected to Seattle Children’s.

Where and when can you donate?
Donations will be accepted at any time between Christmas Day 2021 and January 20th, 2022 at 9206 227th Ave NE in Redmond, WA. There will be a large marked drop-off bin outside the home, into which the donations will go. If the bin is full, please place the donations next to the bin. Do not try to overfill the bin as this risks damage to the donations.

Missed the deadline, and still want to donate?
We accept monetary donations at the PayPal in the link below, which will go toward supporting our current donor, or in this case, Seattle Children’s.

This holiday season, Comfort Through Caring is running a charity drive to donate a few items (warm winter clothes, blankets, gloves, and non-perishable food items) to children in need. This drive will last from December 5th to December 31st. There will be multiple drop off stations around the Seattle area, including Redmond, Sammamish, Issaquah, Bellevue and Bothell. Exact locations will be published soon. Through this drive, we hope to ensure that organizations like Hopelink Northwest and the Seattle-based Mary’s Place benefit from your donations.

Are you interested in design-related careers like User Experience, Design, and Architecture? One fundamental element of all these careers is the ability to Visual design. This summer, we will be offering a 4-week introductory course to Visual Design, which will cover interesting aspects of design:

The Visual Design class hosted by TCTCF is a once-a-week course spanning four weeks, and covering many interesting aspects of visual design, including typography, color theory, and heuristics. By the end of this course, attendees will be able to design a to-the-point informational poster (or poster-related object) that is also aesthetically pleasing. They will also gain sufficient knowledge of the basic principles of Visual Design.
