Save the date - Redlands Forum - September 16th from 5:30-6:30pm

The Parable of the Sower
In 1993, Octavia E. Butler published Parable of the Sower, a coming-of-age novel set in Southern California in 2024. As we live through the time of the dystopian future Butler imagined—her vision of environmental collapse; political disintegration; and, ultimately, hope in community—her award-winning novel still has a lot to teach us. Students at the University of Redlands and Crafton Hills College will dive into the novel at the next Redlands Forum.

Join us on September 16 to hear from Dr. Heather King, Dr. Lillian Larsen, and John Glover as they lead the discussion and provide historical and environmental context for the novel as well as a visual map that plots the journey of the central characters.

U of R Night at Redlands FC Match!

Join your fellow Bulldogs for U of R Night at the Redlands FC match and cheer on our local semi-professional football club at their home match on Saturday, June 1, at 7 p.m. at Dodge Stadium on the Redlands High School campus.

As part of our collaboration, University of Redlands alumni and Town & Gown members, as well as faculty, staff, and students, enjoy a special 15% discount on both single game and season tickets.

To celebrate U of R Night, there will be jersey giveaways, a special “Dawg Pound” seating section, and kids can sign-up to walk the players on to the field and fetch balls during the match – and President Newkirk will do the coin toss!

Kid’s Involvement: If you have a child who wants to walk the players on to the field prior to the match and/or be an official “ball fetcher” for out of bound balls during the match (must be 11 or older), please send an email with your child’s name and age to Shelli Stockton, [email protected].

Town and Gown is Ballpark Bound!
Take the Arrow Train from the University of Redlands Station to San Manuel Stadium to watch the Inland Empire 66ers vs. the Fresno Grizzlies! It will be Cinco de Mayo Michelada Fest and Family Funday Sunday at the stadium! There will be a variety of local micheladas to enjoy during the game and be on the lookout for specials the whole family can enjoy as well.

In fictional picture-books, endpapers reveal important details about characters, settings, and plots. In picture-book biographies, they offer valuable insights into individuals' lives, contributions, and occupations. Dr. McNair will showcase exemplary endpapers from acclaimed picture-books to illustrate these concepts.
