I know a lot of people who have seen the movie Sounds of Freedom have been asking what they can do. Something I used to say frequently when I ran Voices of Justice Magazine (sadly we had to shut it down recently) is that pretty much anyone can start by praying and giving. If you want a couple of reputable organizations to partner with in prayer and finances, I can recommend Extreme Love Ministries based out of Cambodia. I have partnered with them for years and their Director, Andrea, even had a regular column in our magazine. Or, if you prefer to partner with a US based (and survivor led) organization, Lisa Michelle of Untethered Ministries is a part of the ministry network that I belong to and God is doing amazing things through their organization. You can’t go wrong sowing into either or both of these great organizations! The only place you can really go wrong is by doing nothing after you have been prompted to do something …

So … trying something new. Going to do a quick video each Tuesday (calling it ) to dig into a particular word or concept from that week’s podcast to mine a little “present tense” nugget from it. This was my first attempt and is a little longer than I’d like (going to shoot for under 5 minutes!). Since we have to prerecord the podcast it is a way of stepping into His presence right now with what had been previously recorded. Videos are not really my thing - so it may be short lived - but had it on my heart to try. We will see where it goes. Feedback is appreciated!

I often need to stop and remember that God is more concerned with my character and who I am becoming than He is with my circumstances or any particular destination. He is intimately mindful of me, cares about every detail of my life, and is ALWAYS the most compassionate Comforter in the midst of life’s discomfort and pain. But His ultimate desire is that I be conformed to His image—NOT that I live a nice safe comfortable life. He loves dreaming with us and is unfathomably good, but I can’t help but wonder what the Church would look like if Christlikeness was truly the greatest desire and dream of our hearts. If nothing else, I suspect we would have a whole lot more hope, joy, and peace on the journey.
