Banned Books Week is here! 📖

Cals will be unveiling our brand new banned books section TOMORROW 10/6.

All banned books in the store will be 25% off this week! ‼️

Cal's Books is dedicated to sharing knowledge and information within our communities, with that comes sharing information in books that have been deemed "controversial" or "unsavory" 📚

We find that books that they don't want you to read, are the ones you should be reading. 👀

Here are some of Cal's Books Co-op Members favorite books!

Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice 📜🖤🕯️
Set in 1813 England, Pride and Prejudice illustrates the complexities of young love, setting aside ego and pride for the sake of genuine connections. The self reflection and growth between characters is beautifully written.

Matt Dinniman's Dungeon Crawler Carl 💣👑♥️
A twenty-something ex-coast guard regular guy gets put into an ultra-deadly, interstellar "reality" show about Earth. It's him, the friends he makes along the way, and, of course, his tiara-touting, sunglasses wearing, talking cat Princess Donut, against the universe.

(Sadly we have NO DCC in store currently, but we are working hard to get it stocked!)

Robert Heinlein’s Stranger in a Strange Land ☄️🌎
A young man’s reintroduction to life on Earth after being raised on Mars. Feeling like an alien among your “own kind.”

(This was our members favorite book long before GROK was created, Cal's is strictly anti-ai)

Sui Ishida's Tokyo Ghoul ☠️🗼
A dark fantasy Japanese Manga, you have to read it to believe it.

The Last Days of Pompeii, printed in 1905.. With a library card from the Oakland Free Library. To-be-returned stamp is for 1923 (103 years ago!).. Do you think it ever made it back? 🤔📚
