300 lbs Garbage - Cleared!

Thank you Awesome Volunteers and Beautify Shasta !

Here on this site, a new space, a plaza to visit, to pause and reflect on local Wintu culture and the beauty around us.
--- Phu-rus Topi is the Wintu name chosen for the new plaza, describing: Heart reflection place

Inspiration
Wintu people were here and are here as part of our culture today.
Nature makes our city special.
City Trails are essential for people to comfortably walk and bike to and from local neighborhoods, schools, businesses and parks. The Diestelhorst to Downtown is the essential City Trail connector from the Sacramento River Trail to Downtown Redding.

Yes, Tomorrow - Join Us! Walk, ride by, help out, say Hi!
Come out and help clean up. Thank you Beautify Shasta!! for organizing a group clean-up project. This is on a hill, along the paved walk/bikeway, yes, it'll likely be wet - nothing our Redding folks can't handle here.

Wintu words for a place of heart and reflection.

A Beautiful New Trail Asset
A plaza and place to pause, designed with input and contribution by many people and community groups. To help maintain this trail gateway area for a safe and comfortable connection to/from Redding neighborhoods north and south of the river.

A Place That Is For Us
It’s meant to be a spot where residents can return repeatedly – on their own, and with friends and family, students and classes – to admire and reflect on important parts of the local culture and natural environment we all value.

A Vibrant Public Place
The 2018 Downtown Specific Plan update calls for a vision of “creating a vibrant public space” through the development of “several new smaller, publicly accessible open spaces in the form of pocket parks, plazas, and parklets along the streets that are also prioritized for pedestrians and streetscape improvements.”
