This is a Miner Bee. They are not aggressive and will actually fly close to you and watch you.

They are important pollinators. The Miner Bee nests in the ground. When gardeners practice, “no dig gardening” it protects these incredible bees.

Miner Bees not only pollinate but they contribute to soil health by nesting in your garden soil.

What’s being harvested in January at the MMH Garden?
Yacon!
Yacon is the sweetest after the first frost. Also known as a Ground Apple, after digging up the tubers, they can be used in salads, as a sweet syrup, eaten raw (like an Apple) or stir fried.

Don’t forget to donate or share the Matson Mowder Howe Go Fund Me page. We desperately need to replace the fencing at the MMH Community Garden. If 1200 people donate 100 dollars we can reach the necessary 120,000 to replace the fencing.
The link is in our Garden feed on this page.
