Each year, The McConnell Foundation board and staff visit McConnell Fund grantees. Thank you to Justine Lehman and Kerry Caranci (Community Foundation of the North State) for our Shasta County tour, which included Cottonwood Community Center & Park, Redding Pathways to Housing, Riverfront Playhouse, Shasta Historical Society, Redding Trail Alliance, and Dignity Health Connected Living. As Margaret Mead said, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world; indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.

Congratulations, Redding School of the Arts (RSA), on breaking ground for its new high school campus! The McConnell Foundation donated the land after RSA demonstrated the vision, need, and financing for a high school to complement its successful K-8 campus, which opened to the public in 2011. The new 12,000-square-foot, one-story facility was designed by Nichols, Melburg & Rossetto and will be built by Cerami & Browning, Inc. The new campus will also include space for the future construction of a 650-seat Community Performing Arts Theater. This expansion invests in the future of arts and education in Redding. RSA’s big dreams inspire us all!
