Closing Our Current Chapter To our incredible community of riders, supporters, and advocates. When I founded Sheemotos, it was built out of a deep, personal mission to transform trauma, heartbreak, and PTSD into healing and pure freedom through the shared power of motorcycling. For years, this community has stood together as a sanctuary, saving lives and providing a lifeline to those who needed it most. However, life has brought a series of profound changes and immense challenges that require me to step back completely. It is with a heavy heart, but total clarity, that I am announcing the permanent closure of Sheemotos as a public charity. This decision comes after hitting a physical and emotional crossroads that can no longer be ignored:
A Physical Turning Point: Following a severe, career-ending racing crash, my body has faced immense structural challenges. After 10 grueling orthopedic surgeries, my prosthetic elbow is failing to take but I'm not giving up. The intense physical labor required to run events, manage logistics, and police tracks is no longer medically safe or physically possible for me to maintain.
A Crisis of Conscience and Grief: This past month, our racing community suffered devastating, irreversible losses. The passing of my colleague on the AMA National Commission, Dan Bromley, combined with the tragic loss of 14-year-old rider Alyssa Kruppenbacker, has shattered my world. These tragedies have brought the extreme mortality and high-speed risks of this industry directly to the forefront of my mind. As a grandmother, a paramedic, and a safety official, I am carrying a deep crisis of faith. I can no longer, in good conscience, participate in or volunteer my life's energy to an unpoliced racing industry that breaks my heart. I want to extend my deepest, most profound gratitude to every volunteer, donor, rider, and family member who poured their soul into Sheemotos. The lives we touched and the healing we facilitated will never be erased. We ran a beautiful race, but the time has officially come for me to pull into the pits, roll up my track gear, and protect my own familyโs peace.Thank you for your years of love, and support. With love ~Shee๐ฅน
