Launchpad provides a way for one person to directly impact a child in need, by providing funds to an activity of the child’s choice.

Launchpad connects sponsors with children. Launchpad sponsors provide children the opportunity to be exposed to any activity of their interest. Therefore, if a child is referred to our program from an organization (School, nonprofit, agency), we do our best to coordinate entry into the activity of their choice. The children in our program are from at-risk environments, low income, or foster homes. Our goal is to provide sponsorship in the areas of C.A.P.S.: Cultural Experiences, Arts, Personal Mentoring, and Sports. We believe that all of these areas encourage enrichment opportunities for children and provide self-esteem boosting interactions.

Way more laughter than necessary😖, but a lot of preparation, and some seriously proud moments watching them step up and own their parts. 🧡

Mission requirements: a Sunday afternoon, Dutch Bros, paper, pen, and a phone. 😂

In all seriousness, I’m really proud of these boys. They gave up part of their Sunday afternoon to prepare for our upcoming Redding Rotary presentation, working through their individual roles, deciding what they want to share, and getting their parts locked in.

There’s something pretty cool about watching them go from doing the work to learning how to stand in a room and talk about the work they did.

October 22, we’ll be ready. 🚀

It’s officially time to SAVE THE DATE!

Launch Party is coming back January 23rd and this year we’re doing Moroccan Nights! ✨

If you’ve been to Launch Party before, you already know we love a good theme, a little competition and creating a really fun night for an even better reason.

Our local mixologists will be back competing for your vote! We have some fun new things planned for you this year, and it’s all to help us continue creating opportunities for kids through LaunchPad 4 Kids.

You can’t aspire to opportunities you don’t even know exist, and sometimes you don’t know they’re available to you until someone opens the door and lets you walk through it.

Presentation Day was all about walking into rooms they didn’t realize existed until Assembly Member Heather Hadwick opened the door and shared her story.

Not only did she calm their nerves but she shared her journey from education to politics in a way that allowed them to see the many possibilities of making an impact.

Afterward, each student presented their recommendations on expansion and access while she asked questions and provided further insight!

This group truly embodied work hard play hard because right after our State Capitol tour, we capped the trip with some Top Golf and headed back home ⛳️

Impact can start from anywhere and she made sure they understood that by the end of this trip!

🥹 So proud of these 7 students!

Not only did they spend their summer learning how to research and develop county profiles as REAP Fellows, they also learned the deeper meaning of community impact and how to effect the change you want to see through Civic engagement.

We have a lot to improve for the next Fellowship, but I’m so thankful this group allowed me to pilot this idea with them! They were genuinely open-minded, a little rowdy at times, fully invested and tons of fun to work and travel with!

Huge thank you to all of the Assembly Members they had the opportunity to meet and speak with for taking the time out of their day to take photos and chat with these students. You truly left an impression they won’t soon forget!

Today we were surprised and incredibly honored to see our students featured in Assembly member Heather Hadwick’s official newsletter.

This past Monday and Tuesday our REAP (Rural Expansion and Access Project) Fellows spent their days at the California State Capitol. These students used their summer to research seven different California counties. Their goal was to identify opportunities available for children in rural communities, the barriers that can make those opportunities harder to access, and what could potentially be done differently.

Assembly member Hadwick expressed interest in the program and gave these kids the opportunity to present their findings at the State Capitol.

They were beyond nervous, but one of my favorite parts of the entire experience was watching Assembly member Heather Hadwick immediately put them at ease with her down to earth nature. She shared her own story and how she found her way into public service, walked them through how the legislative process actually works and gave them a chance to see a live floor session.

When it was their turn to present, she assured them that their work and their ideas were worth hearing. She asked each of them questions, gave constructive feedback, and pointed out things they might not have considered to help them think more deeply about their recommendations.

By the end of our time together, the nerves had turned into questions, curiosity and for a few of them, even a new interest in political science and public service.

A huge thank you to Assembly member Hadwick, for not only opening the Capitol to our REAP Fellows, but for opening their eyes to a world many of them had never experienced before. Thank you for advocating for rural communities and for taking the time to invest in the young people who will one day lead them.

Thank you again for such a unique and memorable experience!

Help us wish our board member, Tim Rayl, a very Happy Birthday this week! 🎉

People often celebrate the mission, but the truth is this: without great board members, organizations don’t survive.

Behind every nonprofit doing meaningful work are people willing to ask hard questions, offer wise counsel, and stay steady through both challenges and growth.

Tim has been a founding board member since the very beginning, and over the years he has brought a unique perspective, a steady hand, and the kind of calm, reassuring presence every founder hopes for in a board member.

I am beyond thankful for his continued support, wisdom, and belief in the mission.

And as he always reminds me, no matter what happens…

ONWARD.
