An Evening with Mai Der Vang

Join Shasta College for an evening with acclaimed author and Pulitzer Prize finalist for poetry, Mai Der Vang, on Friday, April 4 at 7:00 p.m. in the Shasta College Theatre. Mai will be reading selections of her work during this time. A Creative Writing Festival full of inspiration, storytelling, and community with other writers follows on Saturday, April 5, from 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. in the 1100 Building (Math) with workshops led by Mai Der Vang and Shasta College faculty. Mai Der Vang is the author of Afterland (Graywolf 2017), winner of the Academy of American Poets’ First Book Award, and Yellow Rain (Graywolf 2021), a finalist for the 2022 Pulitzer Prize in Poetry and recipient of the American Book Award and Lenore Marshall Poetry Prize. Her third collection, PRIMORDIAL, is forthcoming in March 2025. A Guggenheim and Lannan Literary Fellow, Vang has published in Tin House, American Poetry Review, and Poetry. She teaches in the MFA Program in Creative Writing at Fresno State.
