This past weekend, Turtle Bay Exploration Park was full of kids getting ice cream from the same officers, deputies, advocates, and community partners who show up for Shasta County families on the hardest days.

Cops and Cones is built around a simple idea: let that first meeting happen over a cone in the sunshine, not in a crisis.

Thank you to Redding Police Department, Anderson Police Department, Shasta County Sheriff's Office,Shasta County District Attorney's Office, Mercy Medical Center Redding, Shasta County Health and Human Services and Shasta Strengthening Families for showing up and helping make that possible.

Afternoons like this are exactly why community trust matters.

When families lack access to stable housing, quality healthcare, and economic opportunity, the ripple effects reach every corner of a child's life. Yet for too long, we've been working from incomplete pictures.

The PCA America Family Well-Being Indicators Dashboard changes that. For the first time, advocates, policymakers, and communities have a clearer, data-driven look at the factors shaping family well-being across the country, so we can stop reacting and start preventing. It’s part of our Blueprint commitment to let evidence guide action, and rather than producing new numbers, we’re removing the barriers to using data by bringing trusted sources together in one place.

To every teacher, coach, and school staff member heading back to a classroom this month: thank you.

You show up for kids in ways that matter more than you probably hear. A steady voice on a hard morning. A little extra patience on a day that needed it.

Someone who remembers a kid's name and says it like it matters.
