S.C.ooT.'s Never Alone Resource Center

S.C.ooT.'s Never Alone Resource Center We are a non-profit that is geared towards helping people to get back on their feet. Assisting people in getting to where they want to go!! Who we are?

Mission Statement: Our mission is to provide resources to the recovering community. To help people achieve their goals and dreams and to guide them to the paths that lead them to those achievements. It is in our heart also to provide a safe and serene place to fellowship, learn and grow. What do we do? We want to help people through the difficult, time consuming and sometimes confusing processes i

n order to get them to where they want to be. We DO NOT want to hand people a packet of papers with phone numbers and send them on their way. We want to do the footwork to make it easier to get things done. We have streamlined the processes for our clients. We have possibly cut the time it would normally take them to complete a task in half. Most resources and/or start of any process require an application of sorts. With that some of the processes require obtaining and submitting verification of additional information. Sometimes once the process is complete there may need to be follow up. We can do all of that. We started with a project that we call mom’s attic. For this program we accept donations of household items that someone moving from a transitional home into their own place can use to furnish their home. This can be anything from an entertainment center to a refrigerator. For the veterans we are teamed up with Redding Veterans Resource Center which is linked to Veterans Resource Centers of America. Together we can help with food, shelter, and any medical or financial services that they may need. We have teamed up with Shasta County Social Services in order to help our clients apply for county services. We are also equipped to assist with obtaining services from EDD, SSI, other emergency services even connections to prescription drug assistance programs. US Bank has partnered with us to help our clients open a checking account and in some cases give our clients a second chance with a checking account. We assist in teaching our clients how to balance a checkbook, the importance of financial amends, paying bills, a savings account and preparing for the future. S.C.ooT.’s has a notary public on staff for all of your notary needs. We have a life skills curriculum that is geared towards leaning how to set priorities, organization and even how to effectively work in a team. The paralegal that we have on our team can help a client to understand legal documents. She can help with processes such as plea reductions all the way to having a record expunged. She is knowledgeable in family law and restraining orders. We work with all of the residential and transitional facilities as well as numerous landlords in town. We are able to assist in finding living arrangements based on a client’s circumstances or needs. DMV is a staple in most of our lives yet not many want to spend their day there to find out they don’t have all the information needed to complete their transaction. We can assist in getting the necessary forms and help with processes such as buying or selling a vehicle to a private party, to something as simple as a change of address. We have numerous people on our team to help with house calls such as childcare, yard work, plumbing, construction, house sitting or even massage therapy. These are S.C.ooT.’s supported companies meaning they are people who started off much like our clients and have turned their life around. Services are offered at a discounted rate and a percentage goes back to the center. Our helpline is available 24/7 to help provide numbers to recovery or crisis hotlines, access to any of the services we provide and to make appointments for house calls. The reunification process can be long, drawn out and emotional for all involved. We have team members who have already been through it and have put together support groups to help our clients get through it as well. Your credit is a huge part of your identity. It is something that often in one’s addiction that gets ruined. It is important to have a good credit record and we have the tools to assist you to achieve a standard that will allow you to do things that will help you to move forward such as get into a home or buy a vehicle. Basic transferable skills are important for everyone to have in the workforce. We can help our clients to obtain the most basic of computer proficiencies. This includes the programs in the Microsoft office suite such as Word and Excel as well as general computer maintenance. Once We have a building

There are many people who have walked our path who lost out on the opportunity to graduate High School we have put together a DED preparation curriculum as well as a GED testing site, so that our clients can study and test in the comfort of our facility. We also have a SAT preparation curriculum and tutors available for all grades through High School. We will have a coffee house that will be designed as a training ground for our clients to learn all of the skills needed to run a business. This will be especially important for our clients who are felons as it will give them an edge when looking for work. There will be a saloon available for our clients to get haircuts for free from our cosmetologist for things such as a job interview or a court appearance. We will be able to allow our clients, who are new graduates of our local cosmetology schools, to come and set up shop in our saloon for a minimal fee or trade in services so they can build a clientele. We have all done things that we have regretted and in some cases this would include a tattoo that at some point represented who we were. We will provide a sterile environment for seasoned or interned tattoo artists to provide cover-ups of drug or gang related tattoos for little or no cost to the client. We also have resources for tattoo removal. We will provide free in-house daycare for parents who are attending mandatory meetings, have a job interview, other mandatory classes or who are volunteering at the center. We will provide daycare for other reasons for a small fee. We can provide assistance in locating lost family members. This is important especially for reasons such as health or for people of Indian descent who can obtain benefits based on their background. We have a life skills curriculum that will allow us to have parenting classes, classes about personal finance and other seminars. We will have the room to provide space for 12-step meetings, a writing lab with computers for homework, job search and/or training.
