The last grant of our fall season is the Redding Rancheria Community Fund. RRCF is advised by the Community Foundation of the North State and supports organizations that serve Shasta and/or Trinity counties. RRCF grants will be awarded for general support, excluding salaries. This includes things like capital improvements, renovations, equipment, programs, services, and more. Today is the last day of August, and also the last day of Make-A-Will Month! Although the month is coming to a close, CFNS is a great resource for estate planning all year long. Whether that be providing estate planning attorneys with customized bequest language for charitable giving, updating charitable instructions without revising an estate plan, administering assets after death in accordance with the governing documents, or helping clients determine which causes matter most to them, CFNS is here to help.

✨Board Member Spotlight✨

Cara Hood is our next board member in the spotlight! Cara is a business development officer originally from Northern California. She has been on the CFNS board for 5 years. Cara’s reasons to love the North State include the beautiful outdoors and amazing community. She says, “There’s no place in the US that rivals the North States’ heart.” Cara believes that it’s important to give back to your community as a way to build a “legacy of kindness.” She says that in the North State, we are “working to leave our community better and stronger for the next generation of givers and doers.” When asked what she thinks more people should know about CFNS, she says, “CFNS is your vehicle for all things giving. We are a resource for those who have the ability to gift funds for a better North State and connect them to those who need it and will put it into action to better themselves, or our community.” And to top it off, Cara’s favorite ice cream is mint chocolate chip!

Another grant opportunity this fall includes the Animal Welfare Endowment Fund. CFNS created the Animal Welfare Endowment Fund to provide for the care and feeding of animals in Shasta, Siskiyou, and Tehama counties. Grants will be made to nonprofit organizations who promote the welfare of animals in the following categories: supporting homeless animals, supporting owned pets, supporting wildlife, supporting working animals, and disaster preparedness for animals. Our next grant this fall is our Community Arts Endowment Fund! It allows grants for the presentation and creation of “new artistic work” to be given in support of artists and art projects. Examples range from visual public art, such as murals and sculptures, to other graphic art forms that will be displayed or presented in public areas in Shasta and Siskiyou counties. BRCF is a community advised fund of the Community Foundation of the North State that was established to support needs within the communities in the greater Burney area.
