This coming year is for our kids. Because education shapes their future regardless of their grades or conditions, let’s prioritize their education.

And let’s turn talk into action. Let’s work together with our representatives to approve to turn the Shingletown Rest Area into a Shingletown/Black Butte park for our community. As we know, Cal Trans closes the proposed site for the whole winter, but we also know in the winter the kids like to play. Repurposing it to a public park will serve the kids and the elderly.

Let’s make 2026 a year where we make a change, together. Happy New Year, Shasta County.

Our mission is to globally develop communities, infrastructure, and the quality of life for all humankind. Visit our page for details on past and future projects.

Kilil 11: The return of the Gurage State in Ethiopia after nearly 3 decades of displacement of the ethnic group is finally in the works.

Their are approximately 11 million Gurage people currently in Ethiopia which is about 9.5% of the nation’s population, but the group is known for not staying exclusively within their zone and residing in all region states. Despite having not being recognized as a state since the fall of Socialist Derg in 1991, the people have for the most part remained and settled in the same places.

The people of Gurage have taken to celebrating in the capital city of Addis Ababa in front of Menelik Palace in a festive fashion for the efforts and progress towards being granted legal statehood under the new administration. Many felt that this was a step in the right direction to preserve the language and culture of one of many distinct and vibrant groups that make the nation of Ethiopia.

Meskel (Feast of the Holy Cross) is a holiday celebrated largely amongst the Ethiopian and Eritrean Orthodox people's, however various Ethiopian and Eritrean people outside the Orthodox faith also participate. Especially so for the Gurage people, Meskel is not a religious holiday, but one claimed by Gurage people of various faiths across the globe. Happy Meskel to all!

Lalibela has been confirmed safe with its city relatively unscathed and resources mainly intact. The terrorist TPLF forces, comprising of mainly child soldiers has been isolated and blocked off from the capital of Addis Ababa with widespread reports of mass killings and looting for the last 2 weeks, but it has been confirmed that minor communication channels have been opened. Residents of Lalibela and the surrounding areas have reported that, although the situation is tense and should be cause for great concern the religious leaders in the area have been able to keep the businesses, homes, and religious monuments safe from the TPLF for the time being.

The region is still depleted on much needed resources such as power, water, network, and medicine as TPLF was able to successfully intercept all foreign aid with US Aid confirming all aid having been intercepted.

Abaye Dam is the hope of Ethiopia. It has become a symbol of sovereignty and financial opportunity to the people of Ethiopia.

Half of Ethiopia’s population of 115 million has no access to electricity and still relies on burning wood for heat and cooking. The GERD offers Ethiopia the opportunity for technological advancements so as to alleviate burdens on those with lack of access to power and modern technology.

Happy African Unity Day!

The Organization for African Unity was founded 58 years ago today.

““History teaches us that unity is a strength and cautions us to submerge and overcome our differences in the quest for common goals, to strive, with all our combined strength, for the path to true African brotherhood and unity.” - The first President of the OAU and emperor of Ethiopia H.I.M. Haile Selassie I

Abune Mathias [80-81], the co-Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church has spoken against the genocides in the Tigray and Amhara regions of Ethiopia in a recording was brought to the US Embassy. Although getting a simple recording to a building may not sound impressive the obstacles he overcame in just trying to get international attention and action is.

His Holiness Abune Mathias has been a voice against the presence of Eritrean forces in Tigray and the ethnic conflict that has resulted in the genocide of Amhara for several months and has claimed that he has been silenced by those who prefer the ethnic division within the church and the government. He alleges he also began losing basic liberties such as his schedule, who he may see, and where he may go and that he now receives round the clock surveillance by guards he isn’t familiar with. His opponents within the church and media have accused His Holiness of being a junta supporter of the TPLF terror group due to his giving more urgent concern to the genocide in Tigray and for him being of Tigray descent. Members within the church have called to replace Abune Mathias as the patriarch of the EOTC (a position that has always been held for life)

Instances of the Orthodox Church being attacked are all too common due to the ethnic and religious genocides taking place in Ethiopia. Some within separatist Oromo groups have appropriated the Ethiopian Orthodox faith as belonging only to the Amhara and Tigre speaking groups and attacks on Orthodox Christians (regardless of ethnicity) in Ethiopia.
