This year has went by quickly but seemed to drag on at the same time. We have reached that time of year again when we start our Holiday drive for local families battling childhood cancer as well as the children at Luries children’s hospital in Chicago. Austin Scott always looked for ways to help others even in the middle of his own battles. This year has been extremely tough on local foundations and our ability to help all the families in our community that we would like to. We will be collecting items thru the end of November. Last year was our biggest year yet and he hope to top it again this year. Following is a list of suggested items but we certainly will take any and all donations. Hats, gloves, slipper socks, hard candy, books, crayons, color pencils, toys, gift cards, blankets, book bags. We help kids of all ages so items for all ages needed. We also will be taking monetary donations. Some of our families struggle in paying for medications and the cost of missing work when the child needs care, so sometimes they need help with utilities, groceries and other daily needs. Gift cards for groceries and things are also a huge relief for these families. This community has been amazing from the day Austin Scott was diagnosed until we laid him to rest, I expect this year to be no different. I wasn’t a cancer parent either until the day I was. This year we really need the support of all of you, unfortunately with COVID we haven’t been able to do our normal fundraisers so things are tight.
