Thanks to our volunteers to include the civil Air Patrol and scouts, and of course Dr. John Lombardo for the great Duce! We handed a "truck load" of candy!

Supporting a Local Army National Guard Member - Consider Donating

Your local BYR, 30 mile radius of Red Wing, is offering support to a MN National Guard member who is currently deployed in an area that was recently attacked. They were not physically injured.

Their personal items were destroyed to include a laptop.

We, your BYR, is helping to offer emotional support to their parents along with assisting getting the member personal items to replace what was destroyed by opposing forces.

We are working with the unit to figure out how to get the laptop to them along with other items.

Today, our Beyond the Yellow Ribbon team had the privilege of honoring an Air Force Veteran, Ken Larson, with an Honor Salute.

His family shared stories of their Air Force journey along with sharing how Ken's military service instilled the values, discipline, and leadership that helped shape his successful life after serving.

Lance had the honor of presenting Ken with our Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Challenge Coin along with a commemorative challenge coin created by one of our founding members, Dave Birkenmayer, an Air Force veteran.

Thanks to the Evening Star Quilters Guild for making a patriotic pillowcase!

We also learned that military service runs deep within the Larson family, with several family members having proudly served our nation.

Thank you, Ken, for your service to our Country and for allowing us to recognize you today. It was truly an honor.

Ken passed away: Rest in peace, Ken. Thank you for your service. Your legacy will live on in the lives you touched and in the freedoms you helped protect.

Red Wing American Legion Post #54 recieved the Pat Cliff award for outstanding work on Veterans and Rehabilitation for assisting with work on Veteran homelessness. This is due to working closely with Hiawatha Valley Family - Beyond the Yellow Ribbon. This shows how a collaborative effort can help solve a persistent issue!
