Wheat to leather, shoes to pottery, and natives to pioneers, Red Wing celebrates its diverse history throughout the community. These historical recognitions help our residents and visitors better understand and appreciate what went into building our pretty Red Wing. In 1903 the Red Wing Motor Company began making motors for watercraft and industrial use. For over 60 years up to #250 employees work

ed at their HQ on Levee Road building world class motors. Now we need your help to better tell their story. Our group, Red Wing Marine Museum, has acquired more than 35 of the original Red Wing motors along with other historic Mississippi River artifacts. We are in the process of renovating a building and creating displays to better show residents and visitors, this nugget of Red Wing history. Working with the City of Red Wing, our group has leased the Water Works building on Levee Street to house the Red Wing Marine Museum. This building (now part of the National register of Historic Places) is adjacent to the river and was originally built in 1910 with local limestone and local craftsman.
