Please be advised that the Carson National Forest has rescinded the trail closure of the Greenie Peak Trail system for wheeled vehicles, effective today. Access for wheeled vehicles, including off-highway vehicles (OHVs), has been reinstated in accordance with standard forest use regulations.

It should be noted, however, that trail conditions remain partially hazardous. While the majority of the trail system is dry and passable, localized areas of significant snow accumulation persist. All users are strongly advised to exercise due caution when traversing the trail system and are discouraged from operating OHVs through snow-covered terrain.

Recent incidents involving operators becoming stuck in snow-covered areas have necessitated emergency intervention. Please be advised that the Red River Fire Department Search and Rescue team is authorized to respond to and facilitate the safe extraction of individuals in distress. However, this agency bears no responsibility for the recovery of disabled or stuck vehicles. The retrieval, towing, and any associated costs related to vehicle extraction are the sole legal and financial responsibility of the vehicle owner and/or operator.

We ask that you share this information with your friends, family, and guests prior to accessing the trail system.

Addressing the Elephant in the room about Memorial Day.

Red River is committed - good, bad or indifferent, to a new look for this year’s event. It is family oriented with a lot of effort having been put into event activities.

Because of the lack of biker orientation with vendors and such, this Memorial Day is going to look MUCH different than years past! Most lodges and Property Managers are reporting severely diminished occupancy numbers. That means a couple of things; far fewer bikers are planning to attend this year and potentially means opportunities for lower nightly rates for your families. Memorial Day Weekend is typically our “Black Friday” after a very long offseason. A weekend that helps businesses bridge from virtually zero revenue for months, into much needed profit.

Here is the ask: Call your favorite lodge or property manager directly and request a discount, and help make this weekend successful. There will be a renewed emphasis on veterans and those who’ve given their lives in service of our beloved country! The Afgan Memorial Wall will be setup to honor those who gave the most. Help Red River Businesses and celebrate our fallen next weekend with family!

Red River Community,

I want to take the opportunity to thank all of the volunteers and committee members who made this event possible on two months preparation! You guys are rockstars and it would not have happened without you.

Attached is the Profit & Loss Statement for the event. It took us a bit to tally all the expenses, and we waited for a couple of promised, outstanding contributions, hoping to reflect them in our final balance. As soon as event funding reimbursement is in hand, we will process checks to first responders budget accounts.

Thank you to all of our sponsoring businesses who purchased branded Co****le boards and gave other means to this great cause for our community! Also, want to express our gratitude to our community leaders who jumped in a cold dunk tank to raise money!

We look forward with great anticipation to next year’s event with a year to prepare and promote for expected growth. We’re eagerly working to add the event to the circuit of professional tournaments.

Enjoy the rest of your Labor Day holiday!
