🌿 Let’s give our local waterways a little love! 💧

Join NCWORF and the Town of Nashville for a Community Creek Cleanup at Stoney Creek on Saturday, September 12, from 10 AM–1 PM!

We’re looking for volunteers to help remove litter and keep our local waterways healthy, beautiful, and wildlife-friendly. 🐢🐟🌱

🧤 Work gloves, trash bags, and trash grabbers will be provided. Just bring closed-toed shoes, outdoor clothing, and a willingness to get a little dirty for a good cause!

Did you know NCWORF partners with the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC) to support important aquatic species conservation?

Through the dedication of NCWRC’s aquaculture and conservation staff, more than 200,000 mussels and fish have been released into North Carolina waters—helping strengthen aquatic ecosystems across the state. 🐟💧

Freshwater mussels are nature’s living water filters, helping improve water quality while providing important benefits to the ecosystems around them.

We’re proud to support partners like NCWRC and the passionate people working behind the scenes to protect North Carolina’s native species and waterways. 💚

🤔 Why It Matters: Why focus on native plants instead of just any plants?

Native plants are wildlife superheroes! They support 50x more wildlife than non-natives because local insects evolved with them over thousands of years. One native oak can support 500+ insect species that feed countless birds! No native insects = no food for birds, bats, and other wildlife. Natives require less water and prevent erosion better.
