Congratulations to Wagner-Elfner and Burg Funeral Home & Cremation Services on their ribbon cutting and official opening this past Saturday!
If you’ve been following Katharine Wagner-Elfner on the funeral home’s social media, you know the planning that went into making this new location possible. Every detail was meticulously designed, and it shows when you walk through the facility at 3070 Cape Horn Rd.
Enhancements include a larger, accessible space (12,000 sq ft!), more parking, a separate stateroom, code-access flower room, functional 3-bay garage, cooler room, clergy room, children’s room, and overhead plumbing in the prep room. The new location also allows for personalized services, including livestream.
In addition to making the space tranquil and welcoming, Katharine also put thought into ensuring their employees were comfortable, designing an employee lounge with full-size kitchen to re-energize, relax and spend time together. “We’re a family,” Katharine said. “This job can be challenging, so it’s nice to have space to regroup.”
When asked what she’s looking forward to most about the new location, Katharine responded, “A modern facility, everything on one floor, and a place that is finally ours.” And now that all the preparation is complete, she’s also excited to have more time to travel and spend with her sons, as well as to get back to her true passion for providing compassionate funeral planning.
Though the funeral home will no longer be in the Borough, Red Lion is still home. Katharine says she and her husband Nate Elfner love “how welcoming everyone has been and the support of the community. Watching the way the community steps up to support us, like donating items during the 24-hour watch prior to the fallen officers’ funeral last year…[and] making decisions for the new funeral home.”
Katharine also recalled a social media follower who gifted pink dishcloths, “because she wanted to contribute something to the funeral home and knew pink was my favorite color.”
