Please join us in welcoming RHR’s new Executive Director, Michael Ferrante! 💖

Michael grew up in Baltimore, MD before finding himself in New York City for work. He moved to Red Hook in 2020 and is now settled in Milan. He was elected to Milan’s Board of Assessors in 2023 as a way of serving his community. He is thrilled to be supporting the community more directly as the Executive Director of Red Hook Responds and RHR is thrilled that Michael has joined our team.

Did you hear the news?! The Dutchess County Fairgrounds purchased and donated the steer raised by Lucas Preciado AND the fair concessionaires purchased and donated the Grand Champion hog raised by Livia Underhill to Red Hook Responds.
The approximately 170 pounds of pork and 500 pounds of beef will go a long way to help feed our community. ❤️

And thanks to Southern/Northern Dutchess News Group for their coverage of these significant donations to Red Hook Responds.

Thank you Dutchess County Fairgrounds and all the vendors that organized to purchase and process the Grand Champion hog PLUS a $1,000 donation for Red Hook Responds. ❤️

We are so grateful for this support, which will allow us to serve our neighbors in need.

Food Concessionaires Unite to Make a Difference at the 2024 Dutchess County Fair
It's long days for the many vendors that attend the Dutchess County Fair especially the food vendors. At the end of the night, while many vendors button up their booths and quietly exit the grounds to get a few hours of sleep, the food concessionaires are not quite done with their day. They work until the late hours of the night where they cook, clean and prep for the following day. One can only imagine how exhausting it must be.

At this year's Fair, many of the food concessionaires found the time to collect over $8000 dollars to support and donate to several organizations and causes.
"I don't think people realize how much the Fair & Amusement industry folks care and give back. We are very fortunate to be surrounded by such generous people," stated Andy Imperati, President/CEO. "I'd like to especially thank Vincent Nelson, of Vinnie's Fine Foods for spearheading this project."

The vendors purchased the Grand Champion Hog at the Dutchess County Youth Livestock Sale with the processed meat being donated to Red Hook Responds along with a $1000 donation.
An additional $2000 donation will go to the Dutchess County 4-H Scholarship Program with the rest being carried over to next year's sale.

⬇️ Our Local Food Exchange (LFE) at work!! 🙌
Through the LFE and our partnerships with key organizations like Feed HV, Red Hook Responds is able to quickly share excess food with other local, community-serving organizations.

On Saturday FeedHV volunteer Rebecca made her first run with the network. She rescued a 50 pound donation from Red Hook Responds and delivered it to the Happy to Help Food Pantry in Kingston. Pantry manager Wendy (pictured) accepted the delivery that included kale and radishes. Welcome Rebecca!

Red Hook Responds staff and volunteers are proud to be supporting Feed HV’s food rescue activity at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds again this year! 🎡

With the Dutchess County Fair at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds in full swing, FeedHV is gearing up for its third annual rescue and it is already turning out to be a great effort. Yesterday the team of FeedHV program coordinator Brianna, along with Red Hook Responds executive director Bianca, volunteer coordinator Diane, and volunteer Julia (now also a FeedHV volunteer) canvassed the food vendors to prepare for the last day’s rescue. As they did, the first donation was made! Thanks to Scott and Joanne at Karl Ehmer/Scotties Good Food for an on the spot 45 pound donation of tomatoes and lettuce. That generous donation was delivered to the Blue Fridge in Kingston. Thanks too to Red Hook Responds and the Dutchess County Fair team for your work in coordinating this third rescue.
