**AUGUST 31 INTERNATIONAL OVERDOSE AWARENESS DAY**
Today, **ComWell ROSC and the Healthy Communities Alliance (HCA)** join communities across the country in remembering the lives lost to overdose and standing beside the families, friends, and communities who carry their memory.
Please take a few minutes to watch and share this video.
Behind every overdose statistic is a **PERSON**.
Someone's son or daughter.
Someone's mother or father.
Someone's brother or sister.
Someone's friend.
Someone who was loved.
Too often we look at a person struggling with addiction and ask:
**“What’s wrong with them?”**
It's time we start asking:
**“What happened to them?”**
Addiction does not take away a person's worth. It does not make someone undeserving of compassion, dignity, treatment, recovery, or another chance.
On International Overdose Awareness Day, we remember those we've lost, support those still struggling, celebrate those in recovery, and continue working to END THE STIGMA surrounding substance use and addiction.
đź’ś **Stigma doesn't save lives. Compassion can.**
If you've lost someone to overdose, we invite you to share their name in the comments. Let's remember them for the lives they lived, the people they loved, and the difference they made **not simply for how they died.**
Together, we can create communities where asking for help is met with compassion instead of judgment.
**Recovery is for Everyone.
Every Person. Every Family. Every Community.**
