It’s hard for young people coming out of foster care to find housing, and sadly, many end up homeless in the years that follow. So, simply providing housing is a huge opportunity for young people in this position, but that’s not even all that THP has to offer. There is also the opportunity to build many important life skills that will play a major role in shaping the future of anyone in the program.

There are many important skills that all young people need to learn as they head out into the world on their own. Budgeting and financial management are near the top of that list, which is why it’s included as part of transitional housing for foster youth in Shasta County. Also, cooking is another foundational piece.
