We had an incredibly informative program at Kiwanis last week with Jennifer Moniz and Moriah Willis from Empower Tehama. đź’ś

Empower Tehama has been serving our community since 1994, providing critical support to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. They serve women, men, and children of all ages and have four locations—three in Red Bluff and one in Corning—along with a 24-hour crisis hotline at 530-528-0226.

The numbers from 2025 truly demonstrate the incredible need for their services:
📞 647 crisis hotline calls
⚖️ 127 clients received legal services
📝 112 protection orders issued
🏠 341 clients received housing
🛏️ 30,784 nights of shelter provided
❤️ 1,701 clients served

We also learned about their Camp Hope and Pathways mentoring programs, Teen Healthy Relationships education, and the many ways volunteers can make a difference. Empower Tehama is always looking for volunteers and provides all the training needed. They are also seeking mentors for Camp Hope.

Mark your calendars for That’s Amore!, their annual fundraiser coming up November 7th. They are currently looking for sponsors, so if your business would like to support this important organization, please reach out to Jennifer.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and Empower Tehama will be hosting several events throughout the month, including an event at SIP Coffee.

Thank you, Jennifer and Moriah, for joining us and sharing the important work Empower Tehama is doing right here in our community. We are grateful for the people who dedicate their time and energy to helping others find safety, support, and hope. đź’ś

The Red Bluff Kiwanis Club is holding our annual Martinis on the River fundraiser on Thursday, September 3, 2026, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the Office of McCarthy and Rubright along the beautiful Sacramento River.

Local restaurants, drinking establishments and service clubs will feature mixologists serving signature martinis and competing for the coveted People's Choice award.

General Admission tickets are $30 in advance or $40 at the door. Your event admission includes 4 signature martini tastings and heavy appetizers.

Additional martini tastings can be purchased for $5 for two additional tastings, and you can purchase your favorite full martini for $13.

We have a VIP Package option for $50 which includes admission plus 8 tasting tickets, and a full signature martini.

This year’s event will also feature a raffle with amazing prizes! A sheet of 20 raffle tickets can be purchased on-line or at the event for $20 each.

Please plan responsibly. Designated Drivers will need to purchase a general admission ticket, but they can share their tasting tickets with friends while still enjoying the abundance of appetizers and complimentary bottled waters.

❤️ Thank You to Our Kiwanis Program! ❤️

A huge thank you to Children’s First Foster Family Agency for joining us at Kiwanis last week! We appreciated hearing from Karen Kemp, Director; Travis Withrow, Supervisor; Sara Mayberry, Case Manager; and Ami Phillips with Enhance Care Management about the important work they are doing for children, youth, and young adults throughout our region.

Serving Tehama, Shasta, Butte, Yuba, and Sutter Counties, Children’s First offers a wide range of programs, including foster care, transitional housing, substance use disorder services, therapy, and specialized case management.

Their numbers tell just part of the story:
❤️ 65 children currently in foster care
🏠 102 young adults in transitional housing
đź’™ 86 youth receiving substance use disorder services
🤝 113 clients receiving Enhance Care Management

We were especially inspired by Karen's personal story and her 17 years of being substance-free, and her commitment to helping young people find a better path forward.

Children’s First is always looking for caring individuals willing to become foster parents and provide a safe, supportive home for children who need one.

Thank you to this incredible team for the work you do every day to help children and young adults build brighter futures! đź’™
