Tehama County K9 Foundation The Tehama County K9 Foundation (TCK9) is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization established to support law enforcement K9 teams throughout Tehama County.

Funds donated through the TCK9 go directly to fund purchase of K9s, specialty trainings, K9 specific equipment, medical expenses for active K9s, and to honor active K9 teams throughout Tehama County. TCK9 supports K9 teams assigned to the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office, Tehama County Probation Department, Red Bluff Police Department and Corning Police Department. All of the above departments curre

ntly utilized dual purpose K9s trained in criminal apprehension and narcotics detection. K9 teams are utilized in many different ways. The primary use of any K9 is through their nose. A K9’s sense of smell is over 100 times greater than a humans allowing them to locate people or contraband quicker and better than their human partners. K9s trained in apprehension are often utilized as a deterrent to potential violent encounters in which the presence and sound of the K9 alone often prevents any force from being used. It is difficult to measure how much more efficient K9 teams are then solo officers or deputies, but we know in our rural county they are an indispensable asset in keeping safe the lives of our deputies, officers, and the community members they serve.

Our K9's love their job and are always on the hunt for bad guys so if you know any let us know, our team would love to meet them!

🚨K-9 Drug Seizure🚨

Yesterday, one of our Northern Division K-9 Officers conducted an enforcement stop on a passenger vehicle. Upon contacting the driver, the Officer observed several indicators of criminal activity. K-9 Apis was deployed to conduct an exterior free air sniff of the vehicle and alerted to the presence of the odor of narcotics. A subsequent probable cause search was conducted. The officer located and seized 45 pounds of suspected methamphetamine and 5 pounds of suspected fentanyl. Thank you to our K-9 Officers for removing these dangerous drugs from the highways and keeping our communities safe. Great job K-9 Apis and our Officer! 🐾🐾

K-9 Remi locates loaded firearm.

On 08/22/26 Orland PD responded to a call for service for the report of a male who had a firearm. OPD arrived at scene and safely detained the individual. During the investigation, it was determined the subject possibly discarded the firearm somewhere in the nearby neighborhood. K-9 Remi was ultimately deployed to conduct an area search for the outstanding weapon. K-9 Remi showed several behavior changes near a bush, where a loaded firearm was located and safely collected.

This is a prime example of how our K-9’s work to protect our community. This could have been a tragic situation if the firearm was not located and a child or other civilian later discovered it. Good job Remi!
