Rebersburg PA - 144 East Main Street - Dr. John Bright family - Dr. Bright's office was the small building beside the house...

Dr. Bright (1854-1922) was born in Aaronsburg in a house that stood in what is now the Salem Lutheran Cemetery.

Harry Ziegler was one of Dr. John Bright’s 1893 baby deliveries. Doc Bright was a German doctor who was acknowledged as the best typhoid fever doctor around the county, Harry Ziegler said. He nursed me and two of my brothers through the fever when we were all sick in the same bed at the same time. He came out everyday for weeks to see us where we lived at Wolf’s Store. Ziegler recalls standing with some of his boyhood cronies outside Doc Bright’s office watching while the physician sawed off a man’s hand by the flickering light of a coal oil lamp. It was Ammon Walker. He’s got his hand caught and mangled in a threshing machine.
