Accidental Spill Response

This morning, East Cocalico Township leadership identified an accidental spill of non-toxic white paint into a local stream. Immediate action was taken to contain and remediate the spill.

The Township contacted the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP), which responded to the scene to provide assistance and guidance. The Cocalico Area Fire Department and Lebanon County HAZMAT also responded and assisted with remediation efforts.

Thanks to the quick response and coordination of everyone involved, the necessary remediation measures were identified and implemented promptly. The stream is not in distress and is expected to return to its previous condition over the next couple of days.

We sincerely thank the Cocalico Area Fire Department, Lebanon County HAZMAT, and PA DEP for their immediate response, assistance, and guidance. We greatly appreciate the cooperation and teamwork of everyone involved.

The results from our Battle of the Badges blood drive are in.

We had a total of 21 people come out, and 19 units of blood were collected. Each of the units of blood can be used to treat up to 3 people, meaning this event potentially saved up to 57 lives. Thank you to all of the donors for coming out and saving lives.

As for the winner of the contest, the winner is ........ the Cocalico Area Fire Department! (We promise we didn't cheat when counting).

Yesterday several of our members took part in the 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb in Lancaster. The event consists of climbing the equivalent of 110 stories of stairs while carrying the name and picture of a First Responder that died during the attacks at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. This was an opportunity for our members to honor the legacy of the first responders by completing the climb that they started, but never finished.
