History will be made right here in Readlyn this holiday season with our first ever Christmas on Main festival to be known now and forever after as “The Grump Who Stole Christmas”. With a lighted parade, lighting of the tree, horse-drawn trolley rides, a Stroll Down Main, a visit with Santa, and a live Christmas variety show, you won’t want to miss out on this uniquely Readlyn experience. As this f
estival will encompass the essence of Readlyn, we need to ensure that all of our wonderful churches, schools, businesses, and organizations have the opportunity to participate in and showcase all that makes Readlyn the best place to call home. Promote your organization and bring Christmas to life by hosting an event for our Stroll Down Main Street. Below are some great ideas:
Participate in the Christmas variety show
Present wrapping station
Toy/Food Drive
Soup Supper

Serve a delicious dessert
Decorate store fronts on Main Street
Food stand

Another great way to contribute is by sharing your space on Main Street to organizations interested in participating but looking to get out of the cold. We are open to all ideas no matter how big or small. We promise to incorporate all of Readlyn’s many wonderful traditions including the turkey give-away, the library cookie walk, and the soup supper. And of course, Santa will be sliding into town at the end of our lighted parade. What in the world is a lighted parade? An instant holiday favorite for years to come, joining the lighted parade can be as simple as stringing lights on your float from Grump Days or create a uniquely yours Christmas float. Light up your truck, tractor, semi, car, flatbed, sled, snowmobile, or yourself with battery-operated or small generator strands of lights. With no registration fees and a promise to bring smiles to many, this event is a must for everyone. Be sure to contact Lois at City Hall for your complimentary string of lights for parade participation! Below is the tentative schedule for the festival:
