From a friend’s post today.

In your weariness, in times when your health fails, on days filled with dread, have faith in God. Talk with Him, and ask Him to be with you, strengthen you, help you in all your weaknesses. He is the source of comfort, reassurance, capability, clarity of mind and purpose.
We face times of doubt, worry, anxiety, and fear, but with our Lord, we do not have to face distress alone. He is always there, providing, lifting our burdens, guiding through the valleys, and encouraging us.
May God bring you peace and calm today as you turn to Him in His word and in prayer. He will listen, answer, enlighten, and be present if you seek, ask, and knock. (Matthew 7:7)

Isaiah 40:28(b) - 31

“The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of all the earth.
He never grows weak or weary.
No one can measure the depths of his understanding.
He gives power to the weak
and strength to the powerless.
Even youths will become weak and tired,
and young men will fall in exhaustion.
But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.
They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint.”

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms who have chronic illness! I know it takes more effort to be a parent when we are sick. Sometimes I felt like a failure because I couldn't be all I could have been had I been well.

BUT....

know they see things in you and are learning lessons you didn't know they are learning.

When you think you are failing them, they see strength and courage. They think you’re a super hero!🦸‍♂️ They appreciate anything you do.

The compassion they gain is something that can’t be taught, only experienced. They’re learning perseverance by watching you get up each time you’re knocked down.

They’re learning hope as you pray & lean on Jesus for YOUR hope.

Although this is for Lyme disease, it applies to all chronic illness. Say it over & over if you have to…I am NOT a burden.

LYME DISEASE AND ALZHEIMER'S

From Lymedisease.org - Horowitz finds Lyme drug combo may reverse key Alzheimer’s indicators

KEY TAKEAWAYS:
🔹Dapsone combination therapy (DCT), a short-course oral antibiotic regimen, can reverse key biological markers associated with Alzheimer’s disease in a patient with chronic Lyme disease.
🔹 Borrelia burgdorferi can invade the brain as a biofilm infection, co-localizing with amyloid plaques and phosphorylated tau in Alzheimer’s autopsy tissue.
🔹67-year-old woman w/ a 15-year history of chronic Lyme disease and co-infections (Babesia, Bartonella, Ehrlichia, and Coxiella burnetii), completed nine weeks of double-dose dapsone combination therapy (DDDCT).
🔹Patient reported subjective improvements in concentration, memory recall, and joint flexibility.

May is Lyme Disease Awareness Month and I will be sharing some “Lyme Science” posts from PA Lyme Resource Network to educate you. This post explains why some people remain chronically ill with Lyme or its co-infection, including me. Grateful I’m currently in remission.💚

MAY IS LYME DISEASE AWARENESS MONTH

LYME SCIENCE - WHY AM I STILL SICK?

There are a number of reasons that Lyme symptoms persist. One reason is the bacteria that causes Lyme disease is a master of disguise. It can be hard for the body to find and destroy. So how does it stay hidden?

1. Your immune system looks for patterns in proteins. Bacteria have proteins on their surface, and your body creates antibodies that match those proteins.
2. When antibodies find a match, they attach to the bacteria and mark it for destruction. This signals the body to destroy it. In the image, the square shapes match.
3. The problem is that Borrelia can change its surface proteins. It can also release those proteins into nearby tissue. Now the bacteria have different, sphere-shaped proteins on its surface.
4. Antibodies are still looking for the old shape, but it is gone. Without being marked, the bacteria is not destroyed and your symptoms continue.

Does the weather affect your outlook on the day? If it’s sunny outside, I find it easy to smile and be happy. When the cold wind blows or if a storm is brewing, my mood may not be as cheery. Dark days that are overcast can certainly creep into a mood, can’t they? Look upward and outward to lift the dreariness that tries to hide inward. You have to get outside of yourself.

What an amazing God; He never comes up short! Feeling meh? Turn to God. Angry? Pray. Worried, anxious, overthinking a problem? Talk to Him. Thank you, Lord, for reminding me always that You are here. Amen.

This was a TOTAL surprise at PA Lyme Resource Network’s Lyme patient conference! It’s a privilege to work alongside so many hardworking volunteers in this all-volunteer statewide organization. My primary role helps Lyme patients find Lyme Literate practitioners to properly test & treat them and hopefully bring them to remission.💚 I started volunteering in late 2023 & have given referrals to about 2,100 people. But we need MORE volunteers! Click on this link to see how you can help: https://www.palyme.org/volunteer
