HGA Pack 161

We held our Space Derby in December. The kids did a great job with designs and decorating their spaceships, but some would say that the unsung heroes were the parents that put life and limb (mostly fingers) at risk while winding up those propellers!

Last night Pack 161 held a Pinewood Derby clinic to help shape the Scout’s cars. They then have to finish sand and paint their cars before our upcoming race. These guys did a great job, especially considering how much effort it takes to cut through a block of wood with a handsaw!

At our last meeting, the Scouts learned a couple of knots and then put that new knowledge to use while making pinecone bird feeders to help our feathered friends out during these cold months. They may have also tried to use the new knots to tie up a leader 🤷🏼‍♂️

Hopefully there won’t be any spoiled Christmas presents. Last meeting we made string art crafts that may or may not have become gifts for a few lucky people! Oodles of nails and plenty of string, along with a cup of hot chocolate, went into making each project. After much work and banging of hammers, every Scout went home with a piece of art that they can be proud of!

Our guys had a fun time, and a bit of silliness, after our race at our last meeting! The fun was well deserved after the recent service project for Holy Guardian Angels church.
