And finally, Part 3: the climb.

Yep—after collecting water from the river, these women still had to carry it all the way up this hill, balancing heavy buckets on their heads. And they didn’t do this once. They made the trip multiple times a day to keep the pastor-training school supplied with water.

Today, there’s an electrified well right on campus, with underground pipes feeding six different access points.

This climb is no longer part of their daily routine—and that’s something worth celebrating.

Can we get an AMEN?! 🙌💧

Women and children across developing countries walk an average of 6 kilometers (3.7 miles) each day to fetch water.

We’re excited to see our Executive Director, Nick Schwartz (Nick Schwartz), featured in the local paper! The article chronicles his unexpected transition from finance into global development, his new book, Chasing Rich, and what drew him to Kind Human.

It’s been a year of big changes, plenty of learning, and a renewed sense of purpose. We’re grateful this unexpected road led him to Kind Human—and so incredibly excited about what we’re building together.

Waterborne diseases account for nearly 300 million missed school days globally each year—from diarrhea alone.

That number is WILD!!! It’s also preventable.

If we need to use a bullhorn, we will: Clean water isn’t only about health! It’s often the first domino—the problem that must be solved before so many other big-ticket problems can be addressed.

As your kids hop on the school bus this week, think about the battles you would fight to make sure they had everything they needed in the classroom.

To be honest, we had trouble writing a caption for this one. We know it’s our job to share impact on social media so that our work is transparent and your impact is fully known. And that’s wonderful, and that’s how it should be.

Still. Looking through certain photos is heavy.

We met this family during our visit to Andhra Pradesh in June. The husband, not pictured here, was a fisherman and slept on a cot outside so that his wife, daughter, and newborn could have a roof over their heads.

Everyone was emaciated. Tired. Humble.

To see them celebrate and throw their hands in the air when a new mechanized well was installed right outside their home was … special.

Water doesn’t solve everything. But it sure as heck is a good place to start. We’re reminded of that daily.
