Dignified Work. 🔴

This is Sabrina. She's worked at Giant in Exeter Township as a Health and Beauty Center Store Associate for over a year. Her path to competitive employment wasn't easy and, at times, left her feeling discouraged. Nevertheless, Sabrina persevered and, in collaboration with her Employment Specialists, overcame all the challenges in front of her.

Sabrina continues to receive support from her Employment Specialists and is frequently complimented by her supervisors for the quality of her work. She loves her job. It's become a source of considerable pride and happiness in her life. We're so proud of her!

Happy Pride Month! 🔴

Threshold recognizes the outsized role that LGBTQIA+-affirming care plays in mental health recovery. We're proud to stand with all the unique and courageous people in the rainbow community. All of our programs and services focus on inclusivity and creating a safe and welcoming environment for everyone, especially when it comes to immutable characteristics, like sexuality and gender identity. We'll continue to stand firm as an ally during June and beyond!

Welcome Aboard, Emily! 🔴

Threshold is thrilled to announce a new addition to its mental health team - Emily Brown. She joins us fresh out of her MSW program at local Kutztown University, putting her on the cutting edge of care and treatment. "I took a psychology elective class in high school and immediately fell in love with it, majored in psych for undergrad and loved my internships and fieldwork, continued with social work for grad school to be able to do more and help more people, following my passion," Emily said, after being asked what motivated her interest in the human services field. Clearly, she'll be a great advocate for our amazing clubhouse members. We're thrilled to have you, Emily!

This month, we're celebrating Dayana Mejia De Leon, Psychiatric Rehabilitation Worker at Mosaic House. Dayana exemplifies the spirit of person-centered care that defines Mosaic House and Threshold Rehabilitation Services. She brings genuine warmth to every interaction — taking the time to truly listen as members share their joys and challenges, and collaborating with them to plan and prepare meals and desserts in a way that fosters connection, skill-building, and a real sense of belonging. Dayana's consistency, compassion, and dedication to the people she serves make her exactly the kind of professional that makes Mosaic House a place where recovery thrives. Way to go, Dayana!

Memorial Day Cookout! 🔴

This past Memorial Day, Clubhouse members from Hope Springs and Mosaic House celebrated the right way, with hot dogs, hamburgers, and ice-cold sodas. Everyone had a blast laughing and playing hot potato. The weather even decided to cooperate, despite an initial wet and unfriendly forecast. We love seeing Clubhouse members come together for holidays and other social gatherings.

Today, Threshold, along with the rest of our great nation, would like to honor members of our armed forces who made the ultimate sacrifice. Our memory of them serves to remind us that our way of life - truth, justice, and liberty for all - is made possible only through their sacrifice. "Freedom isn't free," as the platitude goes.

BPN Doing Big Things.🔴

Threshold's Berks Personnel Network gave a presentation during Service Access and Management, Inc. (SAM)'s Employment Expo this past Monday. Their breakout session focused on how social media impacts employment, which is incredibly useful information in our increasingly connected world (and not just for people with disabilities). Most people forget that their online presence is both easily accessible and visible, particularly to future employers.

Here's a good rule of thumb: ask yourself if you'd be comfortable with a future boss seeing the content of a post before you hit publish. If the answer to the question is "No," don't post it!
