Thank you St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church for the love, compassion, warmth and dignity you bring every single month, coming out to serve our guests on Taco Tuesday! They cook, slice and dice everything in their own kitchen and bring it ready to go. You know it’s Taco Tuesday and we’re serving delicious taco bowls, made to order, and we have a line around the block! Thank you for showing up, again and again, for the people we serve. You remind us that we all belong to each other. ❤️

Meaningful change takes collaboration, persistence, and a shared commitment to our unhoused neighbors. We're proud to work alongside community partners and funders who are committed to finding solutions that make a difference.

"Our main goal with this funding and this policy is to ensure that people can stay alive through the winter.”

A heartfelt thank you to the Muhlenberg Association of School Retirees for their generous food drive!

Their donation is helping keep our pantry stocked at a time when we're seeing more families and individuals struggle to put food on the table than ever before. Every can, box, and bag makes a real difference for a neighbor in need.

Want to help too? Check the post pinned to the top of our page for our current pantry needs, or reach out about hosting your own food drive. Contact our Program Director, Jeff Laylon, [email protected] for assistance. Every bit helps us keep our shelves full for our neighbors. ❤️

On Saturday, our staff joined together to celebrate our own Antonio Carrero at the Community Spotlight breakfast, hosted by Spotlight PA. Tony was one of 28 community members honored for their commitment to making our neighborhoods more welcoming, compassionate, and vibrant. Every day, Tony is in our kitchen before the sun comes up, prepping and cooking and ensuring our guests feel a warm welcome when they arrive. Congratulations, Tony and thank you for all you do!

A winter coat is important. When you’re living outside, what you wear underneath it matters, too.

Our unsheltered neighbors need the basics to layer up, stay warm, and have something clean and dry to change into.

Right now, we especially need:

👖 Men’s jeans — waist 30–36
👖 Sweatpants
👕 Hoodies & sweatshirts
👕 T-shirts
🌡️ Thermal tops & bottoms

New or gently used items are welcome. We ask that they be clean and in good condition.

If you’re cleaning out your closet or shopping for a donation, please keep these basics in mind. They may not be the first things we think of, but for someone spending their days and nights outside, every warm, clean layer matters.

Many thanks to our friends at Immanuel UCC! Every month, they bless us with 300 lunches, hundreds of extra sandwiches, and food for our pantry. Special thanks to Kate for faithfully coordinating this effort. As Father Greg Boyle likes to say, we’re called not to serve the less fortunate, but to enter into kinship with them, so that the margins get erased. That’s exactly what Immanuel UCC does for New Journey and the people we serve. No margins, just family. 🙏❤️ Immanuel UCC

A big thank you to the Berks County Association of School Retirees! 🍎

For the first time, BCASR held a food drive for New Journey Community Outreach, and we are so grateful. These folks spent their careers serving students and families in Berks County, and even in retirement, they’re still teaching us what it means to serve.

Every item donated helps us keep our pantry stocked and lunch on the table for the hundreds of neighbors who come through our doors each day.

To everyone at BCASR who gave, collected, sorted, and delivered: thank you. You are still teachers, and today you taught us about generosity.

Thank you Brentwood Industries, Inc. for once again rolling up their sleeves to help us with lunch preparation and in our clothing center. Your generosity and hands on support make it possible for us to show up for our neighbors with warm meals and real dignity. We’re grateful for partners who keep showing up, again and again.

Deep gratitude to NorthStar United Methodist Church for donating 400 lunches to our lunch program. Every meal is more than food, it’s a message that someone cares. Thank you for standing with our neighbors experiencing hardship and helping us show up for them with dignity and love. We all belong to each other. ❤️

A big thank you to our friends at The Highlands at Wyomissing, who’ve been blessing New Journey Community Outreach with monthly meal donations, and this month came back to serve alongside us in person. Three residents and three chefs brought us a hot shepherd’s pie meal with vegetables, delivered with so much love and compassion. Our guests felt it. Thank you for showing up, not just for us, but with us. We all belong to each other ❤️
