The establishment of the new nonprofit corporation -- New Journey Community Outreach, Inc. (NJCO) -- is an immediate response to the closing of New Journey United Methodist Church and its merger with West Lawn United Methodist Church. The non-profit was established to assume responsibility for continuing the essential food and clothing programs provided for low-income persons in the Reading community by New Journey United Methodist Church (formerly Central Park UMC) for the past 40 years.

We are so grateful to Customers Bank and their incredible team of employees, family, and friends who came together to prepare 450 chicken salad sandwiches - on the spot - for our guests. But what really moved us wasn’t just their efficiency (though wow, were they organized). It was the way they showed up. They stayed through the lunch meal, served our neighbors, staffed our coffee station, and connected with our guests with real warmth and presence. Those young men you see right there are pretty special. Parents be proud!

That’s what partnership looks like. Thank you for seeing our community and for rolling up your sleeves alongside us. We all belong to each other! ❤️
