Trees for Reading

Trees for Reading Working together to re-plant the Reading Town Forest. Additional removals are expected. Two Scout Eagle projects started the reforestation effort.

TREES FOR READING is a cooperative effort of the Town Forest Committee and the Friends of Reading Scouting. We are raising money, buying plants, and getting volunteers to replant the Town Forest after the culling of stands of red pines which have died due to rising temperatures. Starting in 2020, significant numbers of red pines had to be removed because they posed a threat to the public. The next

reforestation plantings is planned for Fall 2023. Friends of Reading Scouting, a registered 501(c)3 non-for-profit organization, volunteered to host fundraising efforts and to donate $1,000 to get the effort started. Donations are tax deductible.
