🔬 When a community comes together for science, amazing things happen. This spring, more than 1,000 children, families, educators, volunteers, and community partners joined us for our largest Celebrate Science Day ever.

Because our community believes every child deserves access to hands-on STEM learning, every family was able to attend free of charge. Children experimented, built, explored, and discovered alongside the people who matter most to them.

Every child deserves the opportunity to experience the wonder of science. With your support, we can create even more moments of discovery throughout the year.

❤️ Make your gift today and help inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers, healthcare professionals, and innovators.

Big news! Our Director of Educational Programming, Egon Cools, has been selected for the 2026-2027 Leadership Berks class. Egon also received a grant to support his participation in this nine-month program, which brings together leaders from across Berks County to learn about our community, build connections, and strengthen their leadership skills. We’re excited to see Egon take on this opportunity and bring new ideas and connections back to the Reading Science Center. Congratulations, Egon!

🚌🔬 A field trip to the Reading Science Center is more than a day away from school.

In the last year, 4,946 students participated in field trips that combined educator-led STEM investigations with exploration of more than 60 interactive exhibits.

For Reading School District teacher Taylor Eckert, those experiences continue long after her students return to the classroom.

Students investigate scientific concepts, work together, and make discoveries they'll remember long after the visit. During the popular bioluminescence investigation, students learn about animals that naturally produce light in different biomes around the world before creating a take-home container of UV-charged Orbeez that glows in the dark, giving them an opportunity to share what they learned with their families.

"Our students need STEM in their lives. It keeps them engaged, motivated, and curious."
— Taylor Eckert

Every field trip is made possible through the generosity of donors who believe every child deserves the opportunity to experience the excitement of science.

That’s a wrap on Girls Inventing the Future Summer Camp! 🔬 Over the past week, campers explored forensic science, microbiology, chemistry, climate science and STEM careers while building skills, confidence and curiosity along the way. We’re so proud of everything they learned, created and discovered about themselves this week. If she can dream it, then she can be it.

Science is even more inspiring when you can see yourself in it. We're excited to introduce our new IF/THEN® exhibit experiences, where visitors can explore earthquake engineering, the science of sound and vibrations, and the stories of incredible women making a difference in STEM today. Our Girls Inventing the Future campers were among the first to experience these interactive exhibits, and now they're ready for everyone to discover.

A special thank you to IF/THEN, the National Girls Collaborative Project, and Formula D_ Experience Design for helping bring these inspiring experiences to the Reading Science Center.

Three days of discovery, creativity, and confidence. Our Girls Inventing the Future Summer Camp is off to an incredible start! Campers have explored ocean science, microbiology, astronomy, chemistry, and computational thinking through hands-on experiments, creative challenges, and collaborative problem-solving. Every day brings new opportunities to ask questions, build confidence, and discover that they have what it takes to become the scientists, engineers, and innovators of tomorrow.

💙 Because of generous supporters, more children will have the opportunity to discover what they're capable of.

This fall, the Reading Science Center is launching Innovation Club, a brand-new co-ed after-school STEM program for students in grades 3-5.

Innovation Club was created to give students a place to explore, experiment, and solve problems through hands-on learning. Over 22 weekly sessions, participants will tackle engineering challenges, investigate STEM concepts, work together, and build the confidence to turn ideas into solutions.

Every child deserves the opportunity to explore their curiosity, and community support helps make that possible.

Our newest water table has officially made it into the Reading Science Center, and getting it here was no small feat! After spending the last two years in storage waiting for the right space, this 700-pound exhibit has finally found its home in our expanded museum. A HUGE thank you to the incredible team from Penske who tackled the challenging move with skill, problem-solving, and perseverance. Carl Robinson, Ryan Stankovic, Fernando Martinese, and Josh Tippin spent hours carefully maneuvering the massive exhibit into place and they made it happen with just four people. We’re so grateful and can’t wait for our visitors to experience this exciting new exhibit!
