The First Piece of Art on Main is Complete!

The Reading Chamber of Commerce, City of Reading TIFA, and Reading Art Alliance are excited to announce the completion of the first mural piece created for the Art on Main Project!

This beautiful artwork was designed and painted by Reading High School Art Students under the direction of Teacher Jen Flynn, marking the first official artwork that will become part of Reading's new public art destination. The mural represents not only artistic talent, but also the creativity, pride, and community spirit that Art on Main is intended to celebrate.

Special thanks to our first Art on Main artists: Rylee Gingrich, Angler Riddle, Lyra Wortman, Seth Rowland, Matthew McConnell, and Milly Dombrowski

These students are helping lay the foundation for what will become a vibrant outdoor gallery showcasing local artists, student artwork, community collaborations, and public art experiences in Downtown Reading.

🖌️ Next Up: Kids Mural Painting Day!
School-aged children are invited to help create another public mural that will become part of the Art on Main collection.

📅 Friday, June 19
⏰ 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
📍 Michigan Street Pavilion

Participants will have the opportunity to paint a portion of a community mural under the guidance of Reynolds Elementary Art Teacher, Mrs. Lacey Ringman. This is a great opportunity for young artists to leave their mark on a project that will be enjoyed by residents and visitors for years to come.

Work has officially begun on the infrastructure elements of Art on Main, including site preparation and improvements that will transform the alley into a welcoming public art space. As construction progresses throughout the summer, residents will begin to see the vision come to life.
