Our land is surely blooming! Check out our NEW fire pit area! 🔥

We can already picture this space used for sharing stories, laughter, hot drinks, and warming up as the seasons change. We’re gearing up for soup & tea around the fire at our Autumn Equinox Celebration. We can’t believe shorter days and falling leaves is right around the corner! 🍁

One of the many wonderful components of Field + Forest is that students are immersed in herbal studies. 🌿

This week, students got a plant ID lesson from Miss Kendra, harvested fresh lemon balm and mint from the garden (both members of the Lamiaceae family), made their own tea bags, and enjoyed sipping lemon balm tea! 🍋🌱

Let’s teach and encourage our children to know the land around them. To recognize, respect, and responsibly harvest the plants that can nourish and support us. 🌿✨

Yesterday was extra special because our students got to try Field & Forest’s very first watermelon harvest! 🍉 We harvested two different varieties, and the consensus was… they were pretty tasty! 😋 The perfect treat for a warm summer day. This is only the beginning for our garden. We can’t wait to celebrate many more harvests together as a community! 🍉💕🌿

A HUGE shoutout to Beartown Recycling LLC for their generous donation of an outdoor storage box to Field & Forest! 🌿

This sturdy storage space will be incredibly helpful for keeping our materials safe, organized, and protected during those inclement weather days. We are so grateful for the thoughtful support! It truly means so much to see our surrounding community supporting Field & Forest. 💚

One of the things we hope to foster in every student who passes through Field & Forest is a love of play.

Learning in nature is a beautiful, free, sensory experience. Here at Field & Forest, we’re surrounded by nature and provide open ended activities that invite children to explore, create, imagine, and have fun while doing it!

In these photos, you’ll see children coloring on blank paper, letting their creativity lead the way, using homemade playdough to build characters and create with stamps, and exploring a tuff tray filled with herbs and wooden tools to mix and experiment.

There’s no one “right” way to play and that’s the beauty of it. 💚 We want children to have the freedom to follow their ideas, get messy, use their imaginations, and discover where their creativity takes them. 🌱🎨✨

Wow - what an awesome first day at Field & Forest! 🌿 Our guides are still beaming with excitement! Our new crew explored the new land, played games, enjoyed our sensory tables, dipped their toes into nature journaling, and shared lots of laughs along the way. We are SO excited to dive into more nature topics and help guide children toward a curiosity and respect for nature! 🌎💚

What a wonderful way to begin this adventure! 🌱

Our school year begins on Monday, August 17th and we are so excited to welcome new and returning families for another year of learning, exploring, and making memories in nature!
