This kitten came to me tonight.

He is 2 weeks old, eyes open.

He is 3oz.

There is really nothing left of this baby. He is already shutting down, fatally dehydrated, what is coming out of him when stimulated is not urine. His littermates already passed. Mom cat was a kitten herself.

I immediately got him warm, comfortable, fed, providing palliative care. I gave him an artificial heartbeat momma cat. He will die soon, but he is warm and purring and cuddled up with his momma.

TNR.

Spay & neuter would have prevented this suffering.

This colorful litter of 5 also joined BCC this weekend.

Berks Community Cats Received a request to help from a Poconos wildlife rehabilitation center for a litter of kittens in a storm drain by the Schuylkill River, with a rainstorm approaching.

Thank you to Mary Anne & Tara for rescuing them and working tirelessly to trap mom cat. The kittens are out of immediate danger, and in our care. ❤️ The kittens will become adoptable in the future. Mom cat will receive vetting and spay through our organization.

TNR Means we never leave a fertile nursing mom behind, as she is the kittens’ best chance of survival and because she has the potential to continue the breeding cycle almost immediately.

“Sammy” was found at a construction site by a BCC Foster family and brought to Berks Community Cats . He was malnourished, dehydrated, covered in fleas, ticks, ear mites, suffering from flea allergy alopecia, and starving…

He is now fed, warm, comfortable, and receiving care and medical attention.

The uptick in Sammy’s story did not end there. Second Chance Strays offered him rescue intake!

These 4 Buff kittens came into BCC yesterday. Meet “Buffy, Angel, Spike, & Xander.”

Thank you to Lisa for coordinating with neighbors and working tirelessly to trap them all. Fingers crossed we are able to trap mom and reunite babies with mom cat. 🤞🏻 Our decision to Intake was made to save their eyes.

They are with our neonatal kitten foster Amy, receiving care and medical attention. The kittens will become adoptable in the future. Mom will receive vetting and spay.

“Coconut & Papaya” were the only 2 survivors after a raccoon decided to make a snack out of their nest.

For your daily dose of cuteness, I offer: “Papaya,” receiving laser treatment for his rear legs and suckling on the nurse’s finger. ❤️
