🏆 Mat Rat Wrestling Club Wins Big at Nebraska State Games! 🏆

This past weekend, our team represented Raytown proudly at the 2025 Nebraska State Games — competing in Greco-Roman, Freestyle, Folkstyle, and Beach Wrestling.

We are proud to announce that **Mat Rat Wrestling Club brought home the Overall Team Championship, earning the most combined team points across all styles!

💥 We even had one of our athletes recognized as the Outstanding Wrestler for their entire age division — a huge individual honor that speaks to the work ethic, discipline, and grit of our young competitors.

None of this would be possible without the incredible support of our community — from parents and volunteers to sponsors and local businesses who continue to believe in these kids and what we’re building.

Thank you for standing behind us. The future of wrestling in Raytown is bright!

Big Thank You to Yes Athletics 👟💪

We want to give a huge shoutout to Yes! Athletics—a company that’s truly helping move the sport forward. They designed wrestling shoes specifically for a woman's foot, and they stepped up big time for our program.

Thanks to their generosity, we were able to get over 20 pairs of girls' wrestling shoes at a major discount—and they even gifted a free pair to my daughter.

This support goes far beyond gear. It’s about helping us give our girls the same shot at growth, performance, and pride on the mat. It’s about removing barriers so every athlete can feel like they belong and are equipped to succeed.

We’re proud to be building something where young women are seen, supported, and empowered—and we’re incredibly grateful to Yes! Athletics for being part of that.

MO freestyle and greco state championships. That's a lot of hardware for any squad.

Also, had several world level coaches reach out regarding summer clinics and some stronger kansas city ties. More to come!! These kids are building an amazing program and I couldn't be more proud!

In case you haven't heard Coach Matt has been working harder than the sound guy at the last presidential debate to get fundraising going. He has a STRONG stance against overpriced trash bags and candy bars... I'd put his honest words on here but it would get flagged for sure.

If you are in the Mat Rat area (south kc, raytown independence etc) get on the schedule for community clean up.

If you're a current or former member of the mat rat squad and would like to join us for community clean up days, our next one will be July 6th.
