We know from the bible that God cares about the poor and those on the margins of society.
He identifies himself as "a Father to the orphans , a defender of widows", (Psalm 68:5).
"The Love and Justice Project" - In 2017, supported by our North American partners led by John Glueck, we decided to establish a US ministry base called The Love and Justice Project. We are developing our Kansas City base as a training center to equip and disciple partners for Urban Missions in the context of a Hebraic biblical worldview. This is the model of congregational family and mission. From our mission bases in the US and Brazil, it is our desire to extend our vision to Israel and beyond.
BTY and IDI (In Defense of Israel): In 2014 we realized that we needed to change our priorities to agree with what the Lord was showing us in Scripture! So, we moved our congregation, BTY (Beit Tefillah Yeshua), from a wealthy neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro to place on a main road that winds through a poor income area. We rented a large facility where we have enough room to worship the Lord and also to assist and support the people that live in the surrounding neighborhoods, who travel on foot and by public transportation.
We go out and connect weekly with the broken people, the homeless, the poor and their children, we share with them God’s love, the good news of Yeshua (Jesus). As we serve, we build bridges of understanding and connection with the Jewish community since we have common values and common roots. As a result, IDI, “In Defense of Israel” was born. When we perform deeds of justice, we live the Torah. Tzedakah ( serving by giving of ones life and treasure) is one of the most important Torah values. When we apply them to real life issues, we set an important example how to live out the two greatest commandments, love of God and our neighbor. Serving then releases a sense of purpose that encourages the members of our congregations to be engaged on all projects. Being discipled as we serve, these are the most important pillars of ministry activity in Brazil. Our Avodah, worship and work with urban missions, IDI; modeling biblical service to a fallen world.
That is why BTY Ministries and IDI (Churches in Defense of Israel) developed the project LIVING MONDAYS. For hungry people, waiting is not an option! Every single Monday from 7:30 AM, the Lord sends us 50-60 broken, many times homeless people that live in the dirty streets of the North Zone of Rio de Janeiro - Brazil. We have already spoken to many of them about new life in the Messiah and others come by word of mouth. We share our lives with them and the love of God, we provide hot meals, haircuts and clean clothes. Yeshua is the bread of life! And so we learned that nothing is too difficult for him! The miracle of changed lives in living proof.
Three months ago the Lord allowed us to expand the LIVING MONDAYS project to the city of Campinas – SP (São Paulo). We are very excited to serve the purposes of God in our generation.
We also created the Project LIVING WEDNESDAYS. We distribute hot meals every Wednesday night after 9:30 PM in downtown Rio de Janeiro. We reach an average of 180 poor and homeless people. Our goal is to establish a permanent relationship with them. We invite them into a relationship with God through Yeshua, praying and helping them. Others are transformed, and grow in faith, hope and love into a new life.
The 3E project (SPORT, EDUCATION AND GOSPEL) entered its fourth consecutive year. It happens every Sunday morning in our missionary base in Rio de Janeiro . We serve the children that live in a Favela (Brazilian slum) called “Favela do Tuiuti” – a very poor neighborhood where it’s common to see drug trafficking groups carrying heavy weapons . In spite of this situation, more than 35 children attend the project on a regular basis. We believe that this project is already restoring lives and will diminish the violence as well as reducing the teenage pregnancy rate there.
The newest endeavor is the SCHOOL OF LOVE AND JUSTICE (EAJ). This year EAJ hosted 112 missionaries from YWAM that experienced urban immersion in our missionary field as well as several church congregations.
