Grace Connections Church

Grace Connections Church Our mission is to lead people to become fully devoted followers of Christ.

We will create an environment that develops individuals to reflect Jesus to the world. We will equip them to confidently create a godly legacy, including the ability to share their faith and hope with others. We will honor growth while learning God’s Word and applying His Will to our lives in an increasingly accurate manner.

When it comes to picking a spouse, you don’t just want to look for someone who has potential. You want to look for someone who has character. You want someone who has some sort of general movement and spiritual direction in their life. Look for someone who isn’t afraid to make decisions but also values your opinion. You want someone who takes initiative and makes you feel seen. Difficult conversations are never easy, but you need someone who won’t shut down or walk away when things get hard. Why does this matter in relationships? Because a passive heart in dating leads to a passive partner in marriage. Look for a partner, not a project. So don’t marry potential. Marry character.

That is a very good bowl of oatmeal (go on and check out the recipe for it at the end of this). I enjoy this as my weekday breakfast and I scrape that bowl clean. It’s a little bit like my grandfather - remember the old square ice cream containers - those would be laid out flat and scraped clean. Cake pans, whatever the vessel it would be completely devoured. I used to think about that as savoring the very last morsel and cherishing every last taste . . . but I think my thinking is flawed.

The reason is, we don’t have a lot of control over a lot of things. I’ve seen it before and kind of tried to think back . . . like when was the last time you got out on a bike as a kid and chased the daylight trying to get back before the streetlights came on? When was that last family summer trip together? When was that last hug from a family member or friend? Whatever it was, and whenever it happened, you probably never dreamed it would be the last one. As I’ve gotten older I’m remembering to cherish all the little things before I get to the bottom of my bowl. I have the luxury of knowing about how much goodness is in the 2 quart bowl I have daily, but we all have things in our lives that we don’t know the finiteness of. Don’t just go through the motions today - because that one thing that you think is mundane or common; it could just be that one cherished memory that you have to reflect back on sometime. Savor each moment. Hungry yet?
