The STEREOSCOPE
also known as a stereoscopic viewer, was produced in the late 1800s to the early 1900s.

The brand name on this piece is PERFECSCOPE, with a US patent date of October 13, 1895. The brand was also patented in Canada, France, Great Britain, Germany, Austria and Belgium.

The design features a movable wooden stand with an adjustable card holder and a curved wooden or leather hood, trimmed with various materials and brass fasteners.

Users could place the double-image stereo view cards in the card holder and move it forward or backward to adjust to their preferred viewing.

There are 17 viewing cards with this PERFECSCOPE, donated by a Raymond family whose family members used it in their home in the 1920s. We are thrilled to have this at our museum!

You can look through the lens when you visit our museum. Open Tuesdays and Thursdays 10-4 and other times by special appointment.

More rain today.....

We shared memories with several Raymond area residents at Bethesda Grand in Willmar on Friday.

We enjoyed having the Raymond High School Class of 1976 here Saturday for their pre-reunion museum tour. It's so good to share the memories of 50 years ago and catch up on today. They knew all about the mimeograph machine!

It's a chilly day in the neighborhood! Lots of activity going on, including doors being installed in the new community center/city. So much going on inside too!

Fall begins today and the fall harvest is underway. Please be careful when you are on the roadways - give our farmers plenty of room to move!

As always, we welcome your Raymond-connected artifacts. We are open Tuesdays and Thursdays 10-4. We have refreshed our military display--come see!

Good morning, it's beautiful day in the neighborhood with work going at the new community center/city hall to the west of us. It's getting so close!

We found some past football programs that needed airing here! Enjoy and greet any of those players who still live around here.

We love the construction going on around us, but due to the trenching, etc. that happened Tuesday, our parking area is UNSAFE and a bumpy mess now, so WE WILL BE CLOSED ON THURSDAY, SEPT. 10.

Hopefully, it will be smoothed over by next Tuesday, when we will be open our regular 10-4 hours.

UPDATE: Looks like this will go on all day, so maybe come visit Thursday!!

We are open 10-4 today, but would advise waiting to visit till afternoon, when they will have the trench closed up. Workers need it to get permanent power to the new community center/city hall just to the west of our location in the event center. Still celebrating Labor Day in honor of all the trades working on the new building!

Kudos to the RAYMOND ROCKETS on their win last week over Nisswa. Now they head to Jordan to conquer the Watertown Red Devils at 1:30 on Saturday, Sept. 5. With a win, they advance to Sunday, Sept. 6 at 2 pm at New Prague. The championship game is Monday, Sept. 7 at 1 pm in Shakopee.

Thanks to Butch Steen, we have FREE extra programs from the first-ever Region tourney hosted in Raymond last month. Stop in for yours.

We have the collectible RAYMOND MUG here at the museum, $24 donation (cash or check, please - we are working on getting a Venmo account :)

What a wonderful community weekend for the Raymond Harvest Fest! We welcomed around 175 of you to the museum for browsing, visiting and mug shots (we will be posting some of those pics later on). Many of you also donated to get your very own Raymond Mug. We still have mugs available for a $24 donation. We can also ship them - email or call.
