History comes alive at Champion Hill!

Join us on May 16, 2026, for a full day of interpretive programming at the historic Coker House and Crossroads area as we explore one of the pivotal battles of the Vicksburg Campaign. Throughout the day, visitors can experience battlefield talks, artillery demonstrations, living history camps, and presentations on the commanders and soldiers who fought at Champion Hill.

Programs will feature topics including:
• “How Did We Get to Champion Hill?”
• Confederate and Union commanders
• McAllister’s Battery demonstrations
• The 7th Missouri at Champion Hill
• The fate of General Tilghman
• Actions at the Crossroads

The Coker House, Civil War camps, and 24-pounder howitzer interpretation areas will also be open throughout the day.

Bring your lawn chairs, spend the day on the battlefield, and help us remember the soldiers and stories that shaped the outcome of the Vicksburg Campaign.

Calling all volunteers and outdoors folks! Saturday April 25th from 9am till 1pm is Park Clean Up Day and we'll be joining volunteers from across the nation as we clean up our Raymond Military Park!
So stop by the Garden Club's Annual Plant sale on the Raymond Towne Square then head down the hill to the Raymond Military Park for clean up activities, food and fellowship!

It's that time again!!! This Saturday from 9am till 1pm
join other volunteers at Raymond Military Park (Port Gibson Street at Highway 18) for our annual Park Clean Up Day!
We'll have giant trash bags, bug spray and supplies for cleaning signage, and you'll need gloves, clippers, maybe sunscreen and an energetic spirit. We'll have cool drinks, hot dogs and chips, and lots of good conversation.
Look forward to seeing you!!!!

Judd Moss, Friends of Raymond board member and friends Billy Reeves and Tony Quinn
were on the job first thing this morning to clear a fallen tree from the walking trail at Raymond Military Park! A big shout and thank you to these guys! Raymond volunteers are the best!!!!

Update on our Friends of Raymond Annual Membership Meeting Thursday January 8th at 6pm at The Portico on the Square in Raymond!!! This year's meeting will be short and sweet because of the scheduling conflict with the Fiesta Bowl! We understand what an exciting
time it is in the history of college athletics for a Mississippi team to make it to the National Championship semi finals!!! Regardless of your school affiliation, a lot of folks want to watch the game!
Friends of Raymond bylaws require that our annual election of officers and new board members is held the 2nd Thursday in January. We will get that done!
So here's the plan!!! Meet, greet and eat, followed by the election of new Board members, and a brief business meeting and you're off to enjoy the game.
Our program of work for 2026 will be posted on Facebook and our website.
We will NOT show the History of the Friends of Raymond video but it will be posted on the Friends of Raymond website and page.
Great things are happening with Friends of Raymond and we hope you'll stop by at 6pm for food and fellowship, then a quick meeting and you'll on your way!!!!
