A local group was "Caught Doing Good" ...

Grants: "A grant is a nonrepayable sum of money awarded to an organization for a specific purpose".

Operation Fancy Free Inc takes these awards very, very seriously. If a group of peoples believe in our work and is willing to give us money to make progress in the field of our efforts, we WILL do everything possible to make them proud of their investment and generosity.!! We so much appreciate the opportunity to prove our ability to fulfill all requirements of these grants.

On December 4, 2025 we were blessed with a $3000 grant from the Fund for Ravenswood, an affiliate of the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation. It was called a "Caught Doing Good" award. Who, us? There are always people observing our work, thank goodness.
It is not our first grant from these kind folks and we hope it is not our last. These grant dollars were designated for cats who call Ravenswood home. Today, we completed the expenditure of those dollars. Remember, we cover all of Jackson County and also help Roane and Mason. These $3000 dollars served Ravenswood cats only, as required.

Our final report will be submitted tomorrow but we wanted to share here tonight so that everyone understands how grants improve our communities.

We were able to sterilize and vaccinate 48 cats. It was 30 males and 18 females. It was 44 community, free-roaming street cats and 4 owned cats.

This grant covered sterilization and vaccination. Incidentals such as extra medical needs like antibiotic injection and wound treatment was covered by your donations to our program. We left $6 on the table.

City of Ravenswood WV please appreciate the kindness of the Fund for Ravenswood to make your city the best it can be. Operation Fancy Free is happy to be a part of your success story.

The Fund for Ravenswood is now open for applications through the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation! Eligible nonprofit organizations and public institutions are encouraged to apply for funding to support projects that serve Ravenswood or directly benefit Ravenswood residents.

🎉 Congratulations to our Fall 2025 Grant Recipients! 🎉

Representatives from the Fund for Ravenswood and the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation awarded $104,420 through 13 grants to local nonprofits during our Fall 2025 ceremony at First United Methodist Church in Ravenswood. We’re pleased to support the organizations and volunteers who make Ravenswood stronger every day!

🌟 Community Action Grant Recipients

• Ravenswood Board of Parks & Recreation – $9,000 for a shade shelter at Veteran’s Park playground
• City of Ravenswood WV – $16,000 for operating support for the OnTrac Program (Downtown Ravenswood Partners)
• FARMacy WV: Prescriptions for Produce – $13,820 for FARMacy programs in Jackson & Doddridge Counties
• Hope House Ministries Inc. – $10,000 for operating support
• The Pilot Club of Jackson County – $10,000 for dental care for Ravenswood residents
• Read Aloud West Virginia – $11,600 to expand classroom readers & provide book bundles
• Ravenswood High School – up to $20,000 matching grant for creation of a new student courtyard
• Sleep in Heavenly Peace - WV, Jackson Co – $5,000 to build and deliver 15 fully furnished beds for local children

• Ravenswood High School Boys Basketball Team – $1,000 in recognition of Coach Price
• Ravenswood High School Girls Basketball Team – $1,000 in recognition of Coach Varney

• Ravenswood Adopt-A-Family Program – $3,000 for holiday assistance
• Operation Fancy Free Inc. – $3,000 recognizing Kathy and Brian Stone’s volunteer efforts

These grants empower organizations and volunteers who are creating lasting, positive change in Ravenswood. Since 2019, the Fund for Ravenswood has invested $782,677 into projects that uplift our community. 💙
