Join Portage County Early Intervention for a Family Fun Day on October 8! Families with children ages 0–3 are invited to come enjoy some playground playtime, meet our team, and learn more about resources available in our community.

We’ll see you from 4–6 PM at the Happy Day Services Building at 2500 Brady Lake Rd. in Ravenna. We hope your family can join us!

Join the Portage County Senior Center at 12:30 PM tomorrow to learn more about Issue #13. Failure to pass the levy would put programs like the Senior Center at risk, which is why we want to call attention to this crucial decision in November.

More information about the effects of the levy will be shared on our page this month.

This Human Seevice Levy needs to PASS for our senior center to stay open.
Our center is very vital to so many seniors who need socialization and activities to stay busy.

Jessica Billiter shares the story of a man who came to the Phyllis Zumkehr County Clothing Center and left with such overwhelming gratitude that it made both of them tear up. This is no rare occurance; people from all across the local area rely on the Center for the types of clothes that many of us take for granted.

The Center has an ongoing fundraising campaign for September. We ask you to donate or share word of the Center to others. Our community is what helps keep their doors open for all who need it. Currently, they are in need of monetary donations, socks, and winter items.

The rain might have won in the end, but we made the most of it, dinosaurs included. Thank you to everyone who withstood the weather for us at Grill for Good. You were the sole bit of sunshine we experienced today. 💙

Clothing insecurity is considered a hidden crisis because, despite wearing clothes every day, we might not think of it as a need compared to things like food or housing. In fact, National Clothing Insecurity Awareness Day only existed just last year. In this video, Phyllis Zumkehr County Clothing Center Assistant Program Manager, Jessica Billiter, discusses what clothing insecurity might look like in children and adults and how it affects their lives.

Visit the County Clothing Center on September 15th from 5PM - 7PM to help us bring gently-used clothes to our neighbors. The Center will also be at Grill for Good this year to talk about the event and the work they do.

Meet your grillers for Grill for Good 2026! These local organizations will be preparing good eats for a great cause this Saturday, as money spent on food and drink will go back into your community through AFS programs.

Other programs and partners will be present at the event to table and share information about the work they do. We hope to see you at Hometown Bank Plaza in Kent this Saturday 12PM - 7PM!
