Today, we are mourning the loss of Dolly Parton, who, in addition to being a music legend, was a generous philanthropist and advocate for children.

Through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, Dolly turned her love of books into a gift for children around the world. Here in Portage County, United Way of Portage County is proud to help carry that vision forward by providing free books to local children from birth to age 5. We've been a partner of the program for 6 1/2 years and, in that time, more than 250,000 books have been mailed to Portage County children and we're nearing 10,000 children served!

We are deeply grateful for Dolly’s vision and the lasting impact she has made.

Welcome to the PCHD Team, Kerry!

Portage County Health District is excited to welcome Kerry Fairchild, RDN, LD, IBCLC, as our new WIC Supervisor at our Ravenna location!

Kerry brings extensive experience in nutrition, WIC services, breastfeeding support, and program leadership. Throughout her career, she has worked with WIC programs at both the local and state levels, supporting families and helping strengthen nutrition and breastfeeding services across Ohio.

Kerry is also a recipient of the 2023 WIC Pro Award and previously led a WIC breastfeeding team recognized with a USDA Gold Award.

We are excited to have Kerry bring her experience, leadership, and passion for supporting families to Portage County.
