Ravenna Area Vision Fund - RAV Out Mission - Promote progress and growth in Ravenna with proactive involvement of people and resources. HOW CAN I BECOME INVOLVED IN RAV FUND?

RAV FUND MISSION STATEMENT:
Promote progress and growth in Ravenna with proactive involvement of people and resources. RAV FUND VISION STATEMENT:
Ravenna is a dynamic community that embraces families, education, business, recreation, and growth. RAV FUND HISTORY:
The Ravenna Area Vision Fund (RAV) is a charitable organization working to improve the quality of life and create opportunities for p

rosperity. We have created an endowment, which is like a community savings account – to support community projects, programs, and people. In the fall of 2015, the RAV Fund worked with other community members and high school students to establish community wants and needs. The RAV Fund can be used as a tool to help meet community goals and visions. By investing in Ravenna, we will make it a place for future generations to choose to live, work, and raise their families. RAV provides a way for people to give back to the community that has been an important part of their lives. Each year a portion of those contributions are placed in a permanent endowment which is invested to create a source of funding for annual grants to improve the community. The endowment funds will be held and invested in perpetuity, creating an asset for the community that remains forever. We are always welcoming new members! Contact one of the RAV fund advisory committee members or the Ravenna Chamber of Commerce (308)452-3344 for any questions. Meetings are typically on the second Wednesday of the month at 5:15 pm. at the Ravenna Chamber of Commerce office. We welcome people of many talents and strengths; if you have a heart for helping the community grow, are a visionary, or just want to become more involved, we may be the right fit for you! WHAT HAS RAV FUND ACHIEVED? Since the beginning of RAV fund began in 2015, it has partnered with the Buffalo County Board of Commissioners and been influential in developing the Buffalo County Lake. These developments have included electrical camper hook-ups (2017), enhanced recreational areas, and new playground equipment (2023) to help Ravenna residents and visitors enjoy nature's beauty, connect with family and friends, relax, and have fun. Another partnership has been with the Ravenna Public Library to create the Makerspace (2018), where community members can make, learn, explore, and share new ideas while using high-tech or no-tech tools that are not easily accessible otherwise. We want to support our creative residents! Most recently, RAV Fund had the vision to create a Hike and Bike trail. Partnerships with the city allowed the development and completion of this limestone 1.55-mile trail in June 2023. Enjoy the trail's storyboards from the library or sit at benches enjoying the sights and sounds of the local river and wildlife. We want this trail to support the physical, emotional, and mental wellness of our community and visitors. WHY IS RAV FUND IMPORTANT? Our greatest challenge is to develop and maintain the local resources that built our community from the start. Our local resources include the growth of capital investments, businesses, jobs, young people, and intergenerational wealth. Many of today’s senior citizens no longer have heirs who live in the area. When the older generation passes on, the wealth they have built through a lifetime of work – in the form of land, retirement funds, and other assets – often passes to heirs who no longer are connected to our community. It is an opportunity for them to consider Ravenna as “another child” when planning their estate. HOW CAN PEOPLE SUPPORT OUR COMMUNITY THROUGH THE RAV FUND? We can accept gifts of cash or pledges over a multi-year period, appreciated property, life insurance, or bequests in wills. Our affiliation with Nebraska Community Foundation (NCF) makes it possible to give gifts of real estate, livestock, grain and more. You can even give a gift that provides a guaranteed income and tax savings through a gift annuity or a charitable remainder trust. All gifts are tax-deductible. You can donate at https://www.nebcommfound.org/give/ravenna-area-vision-fund/ or contact Rav FUND members below. RAV has also created a Cornerstone Club, which provides the Fund with an opportunity to recognize all donors who invest at least $500.00 in either cash or livestock/grain proceeds into the general account. This Cornerstone Club is our first step into fundraising for our community. HOW IS RAV FUND GOVERNED? RAV was formed in 2015 by the Ravenna Economic Development Corporation, who found a group of citizens who were committed, like all of us, to building a bright future for Ravenna and the surrounding area. We are an affiliated fund of the Nebraska Community Foundation (“NCF”) and governed by an all-volunteer group of local Fund Advisory Committee members. Working with NCF enables us to reduce administrative costs and provides access to financial and legal services, training and education, marketing services, and gift planning assistance. This means that more of every dollar received in donations benefits Ravenna and the surrounding area. The Ravenna Area Vision Fund is an affiliated fund of the Nebraska Community Foundation (“NCF”), a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. All contributions to our fund are tax-deductible. Please direct all inquiries to any fund advisory committee member. CONTACT INFORMATION FOR RAV FUND:

A big thank you to Overton Area Community Fund and Nebraska Community Foundationfor a great training, food, and conversations last night! It was a great reminder to be a relationship steward, day to day Common Courage, and other ways to use our unrestricted endowment.

1) Save something important
2) Start something new
3) Adapt to the future

Those inspiring words come to us from McKenzie Behrendt, a not-so-newcomer to Ravenna. Since moving to her husband’s hometown 10 years ago, she has become active in building its future – including through volunteering with the Ravenna Area Vision Fund - RAV and by making the affiliated fund’s unrestricted endowment part of her estate plan.

Fires don’t just burn grass — they change lives.
Right here in Nebraska, families and producers are hurting. If you can give or even just share this, it matters more than you think.

The wildfires sweeping through Nebraska have brought catastrophic destruction to many of the hometowns we proudly serve.

We are beyond excited to get to enjoy this celebration close to home this year!

All across Nebraska, neighbors are stepping up and communities are standing together. It’s collective action—a common courage—that creates
lasting change.

Nebraskans know a community’s size does not dictate its dreams. They’re choosing hope, generosity, and abundance. Everything we need is right here.

𝐖𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐞’𝐯𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐰𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫!

On November 12, hundreds of ambitious Nebraskans will convene in Kearney. This year we honor the shared courage that fuels local leadership, strengthens our hometowns, and shapes a brighter future for all Nebraskans.

Join us for powerful stories, meaningful connection, peer-to-peer learning, and a celebration of what’s possible when courage is something we hold in common.
