Ravena Coeymans Historical Society The mission of the Ravena Coeymans Historical Society is to recall the past by preserving, sharing and educating. Our Museum is in the Ravena Village Hall.

Ravena Coeymans Historical Society was formed in 1998 and received its Charter in 2010. We have 8 meetings/presentation and an Open house in December every year.

This week the Ravena Coeymans Historical Societies second Historical marker at the corner of Magnolia Circle and Main St. was installed marking the site of the rail yards at Ravena where they stood from the late 1800s until the 1920s when the yards were moved to Selkirk.

This morning RCHS board members Joe Boehlke, John Bonafide, and Roger Wilber were joined by Albany County Historian Jack McEneny, Candace McHugh, Coeymans Town Clerk; Tom Sweeney, Alcove Preservation Association; Paul Caswell, Little Red Schoolhouse Historical Society; Ten Eyck “Trip” Powell III & Powell family members and community members to unveil a Historic Marker recognizing the crucial role the site played in the Hudson Rivers defense during the Revolutionary War in Coeymans. The marker was made possible through a grant by the William G. Pomeroy Foundation. The Pomeroy Foundation has been providing fully funded grants for historic markers since 2005.
The event was covered by news channel 13 and will appear during evening news broadcast’s later today. Our deepest gratitude to Bill Pomeroy and the Pomeroy foundation for helping us to commemorate this 1777-78 encampment during the Revolutionary War as part of our America 250 celebrations.
